Renovating Bathrooms

Tile Trim - Brushed Brass

Hello,

I'm looking for brushed brass tile trim to use on edges of tiles on a recess in the bathroom. I need to find a supplier that I can actually go in and see the trim as I need it to match the brushed brass colour to my tapware. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Tania,

Brushed brass may be a tricky one to find - you may be limited to brass, or selecting a custom metallic powdercoat. It's highly likely you will not be able to find a perfect match as they are different products from different manufacturers. Have you could match in as closely with the tile finish as possible rather than creating a feature out of the trim? I specify from Bat trims & DTA generally. It's possible to ask for samples from the manufactures, but they won't be in the specific brass colour you want, will only represent the profile and generally supplied in stainless steel or aluminium. For powder coat colour samples you'll need to contact Dulux or similar.

A soft mossy or grey green would be my first impulse but Sarah's dark blue looks good. It depends on your kitchen ware. White porcelains will pop with the blue and earthy stoneware will go more with the soft greens. I'd add a shelf to extend from the cabinet across the tile and a pot rack or hooks over the stove.

I'm not sure if your walls are a "peachy" earth tone????...."if" so orange/turquoise are really in right now and could certainly brighten it up for you....I've recently gone through the same thing with our home in FLA ....the walls are a yellow + pale turquoise accents but adding orange/red to the room would have been the last thing I would ever have thought of + we centered the light fixture so that it was centered on the wall and not off to one side like the previous owner had it....you can see from the "before and after" pics what a huge difference it made...one thing leads to the next....the new chair covers I made a huge difference too but it was quite the job!....I didn't add a lot of orange/red but to us it made a huge difference

What I'm actually wondering though is about mixing the metals - so having the chandelier and lamps with the touch of silver - or would I be better to source antique brass lamps like I have in some other rooms in the house - I kind of wanted to feature quite a bit of glass, and generally the glass comes with chrome, but I'm not sure if it's too modern for the sideboard etc, and mores worried about the clash of metals, but something tells me it might be ok in this instance! I have chrome taps and rainfall shower head in new bathroom and kept with antique brass for the light fittings and door/press knobs. Also yes the room is small but that's not an issue - it is what it is and I'm fine with it!

Hello egreevy, Okay, yes I see, it's a difficulty but maybe not impossible... Just whether you want to try to find out more about this.. Taking windows out to paint is a bigger job but it may still be possible.. ... So for the immediate.. Paint the front door (just the door) it might give a nice finish to have the side windows white.. Then you have a bit of contrast like your image above.. and add window boxes with lovely foliage or buxus.. it will work with the green you already have... I couldn't see as my screen was dimmed.. I think leaving all the ivy colour you have at present would be really nice.. (hence my suggestion of more green!! Also I wouldn't paint the pebble dash, to me it looks absolutely fine on the house itself.. Maybe the small boundary wall at the front and a bit of the garage.. Also a flat box hedge coming over the top of the boundary wall could be nice too.. It will be lovely and green.. : ) )
