need help with open plan kitchen /living room
Comments (11)I agree with everything said so far. Would suggest you get built in book shelvers on both sides of fireplace, lift tv into a slot it fits perfectly into (make sure you have power on both sides). Then it will disappear more rather than fight with fireplace as focal point. I am always disappointed with mirrors over fireplaces, they become dark, are to high to reflect much. Plus then you have three rectangles fighting for center stage. I'd say very colorful artwork instead. Wonder if you can reorient tv where the big chairs are so both tv and fireplace are addressed? Color, maybe you should decide on furniture first?...See MoreKitchen/Dining/Living Floor Plan please
Comments (0)I want to design a whole section of my house. It involves knocking walls etc. but when finished I will be left with a space 20 ft wide x 16.5 ft long leading off a living room & separate corridor to a garden. Room height will be 8ft. Currently there is a window & sliding patio door, but ideally I would like to replace with an entrance (nothing fancy) & glass wall or bi-fold doors. Very rough sketch of the space attached....See MorePlease help me to update my old antique pine kitchen
Comments (10)I agree, I think the kitchen units are quite charming. The tiles date it, the top of the dresser and the piece over the window. Agree, would paint the ceiling a soft chalky white. I know they're becoming a little overdone but metro tiles would suit but handmade ones in a soft white unless you just remove the tiles altogether and have a splashback by the oven. Can you afford to update the floor? The dresser offers good storage space, have you considered either just removing the top half or updating the top so changing the architrave and glass panes? The fire itself looks lovely, do you need the heater in front? I also like the brick but the recesses are dating it. I definitely wouldn't paint the brick, if you were to do anything I think it would need plastering over to cover the niches unless you are able to match the brick. Do you have a better pic of the firep? If you are set on painting the kitchen units, I would look at the really dark greys and inky Blues for the base units, as I think they'd suit the style well, with brass cup handles with a very pale grey for ŵall units. Or if you want the same colour units, look at a mid tone grey....See MoreKitchen Floor Decision - Help please...
Comments (0)My new kitchen units are due to be installed in 4 weeks and I am really struggling to decide on flooring. One wall of units will be an off white / porcelain colour and the island & a block of 3 tall units on another wall will be marine blue. Calcatta gold quartz counters and brass hardware. It's a renovation project so new has to live alongside existing kitchen dining area (oak floors- to be refinished) and black/ white victorian entrance hallway tiles. Would love opinions on two tiles we are considering or alternate suggestion please. Room is south west facing, not especially light until evening....See Morerinked
