help planning a kitchen please
I have an awkward gas meter and also two windows in the area where my kitchen is to be so wondering what peoples thoughts are. Also if anyone has any ideas on moving the gas meter elsewhere to make it easier accessible that would also help. The plan was to have all tall units to the wall on the left hand side, on the back wall my induction job and sink on the right hand side. My issues are will be very difficult to gain access to my gas meter with tall units all the way along and the extractor hod will be very close to the window so don’t know if will look a bit odd. Any help greatly appreciated

Would suggest you get built in book shelvers on both sides of fireplace, lift tv into a slot it fits perfectly into (make sure you have power on both sides). Then it will disappear more rather than fight with fireplace as focal point. I am always disappointed with mirrors over fireplaces, they become dark, are to high to reflect much. Plus then you have three rectangles fighting for center stage. I'd say very colorful artwork instead. Wonder if you can reorient tv where the big chairs are so both tv and fireplace are addressed? It involves knocking walls etc. but when finished I will be left with a space 20 ft wide x 16.5 ft long leading off a living room & separate corridor to a garden. Room height will be 8ft. Comments (10)I agree, I think the kitchen units are quite charming. The tiles date it, the top of the dresser and the piece over the window. Agree, would paint the ceiling a soft chalky white. I know they're becoming a little overdone but metro tiles would suit but handmade ones in a soft white unless you just remove the tiles altogether and have a splashback by the oven. Can you afford to update the floor? The dresser offers good storage space, have you considered either just removing the top half or updating the top so changing the architrave and glass panes? The fire itself looks lovely, do you need the heater in front? I also like the brick but the recesses are dating it. I definitely wouldn't paint the brick, if you were to do anything I think it would need plastering over to cover the niches unless you are able to match the brick. Do you have a better pic of the firep? If you are set on painting the kitchen units, I would look at the really dark greys and inky Blues for the base units, as I think they'd suit the style well, with brass cup handles with a very pale grey for ŵall units. Comments (0)My new kitchen units are due to be installed in 4 weeks and I am really struggling to decide on flooring. One wall of units will be an off white / porcelain colour and the island & a block of 3 tall units on another wall will be marine blue. Calcatta gold quartz counters and brass hardware. It's a renovation project so new has to live alongside existing kitchen dining area (oak floors- to be refinished) and black/ white victorian entrance hallway tiles. 4 years agoThanks for the reply’s guys. I will also post dimensions up to assist. The wall to the left where the meter is is a structural wall and the other side is my hall so not really able to move that side. I’ve just blocked a door frame in. The back wall is the front of my house so i could move outside but I believe it is very expensive to be moved. I am going to get a smart meter but it is just isolation I am concerned about if needed.

Note: perhaps the gasmeter could stay where it is if the corner cabinet is customised.Note2: ikea doesn't have 90cm cabinets, thus the filler next to the sink.. Also the gap between 12 and 16 is a corner cabinet.. Imagine 14+15+16 as one cabinet with a pull-out hood.
