Hi, we would like a stylish Berber style carpet for our stairs and landing, but we have a cat so avoiding any loops. Any advice on lookalike alternatives? Tia.
Right then… what do you mean by berber? There are many interpretations. Our's is berber relates to a fleck effect found in wool yarn, meaning berber can be found in both cut and loop pile carpets.
Generally, if you have cats that love tugging at carpet it's best to avoid loop piles. If your cats are tenacious enough and keep going for the same area, there is an outside chance they could snag the loops which would look awful. Snagged cut pile (such as twist pile carpets) can also be snagged but look less obvious when it happens, compared to loop piles.
