Just wanted to suggest that you try pulling the nesting tables forward to be more in line with front of the chairs & placing your floor lamp to the back of them. Comments (5)I am a fan of black as a disappearing colour! If the tha bannisters were painted black the Victorian look of cast iron would fit. The walls are too pale , would you consider a dark green( FB Green Smoke) under the rail, next to the carpet, and a much lighter version above( FB Light Blue or Pale Powder). Not really sure of the shade of green in the carpet, it might be more FB Oval Room. I am fond of the Pugin look but realise it is powerful and invariably used with very dark paints. We changed our ginger brown stairs, over 3 storeys to white. 13 years later the effort was not only worth it but the pain has subsided too!...See MoreMoving home for two disabled women
Comments (35)not alot happening at the moment, its winter! alotta rain, lotta. but i am bedding down to get this over with and maybe in the spring the spirits will rise once more. i hope so. i would love to feel i was doing something to keep my hopes and dreams alive, i dont see what i can do until the spring. when i bring the topic up, especially to those that moved away and came down this neck of the woods, they say they had friends who felt it was too far too and moved back home. i guess thats how i feel, thats what i want and i just want to be a bit more uplifted, i think rain dampens down things a bit!!! santa Ma Margaret!...See MoreOur new hallway
Comments (22)What a wonderful hall looks fantastic. For the carpet I would (budget allowing) use chrome or brass stair rods on each stair would look brilliant in there. You could always get an old or cheap console table & paint it yourself in silver or bronze etc....See Moredarnokelly
8 years agoSince I posted this, I think we came with a plan! We thought that bringing the carpet up to the landing would not work. Why? Mainly safety. When you are walking up and there is a little bit of carpet you are standing on, it could have a little give on it, but also for walking down too. Then the bridge piece wold be in an unexpected place and people would more than likely trip! I found some "nosing" in some sites online and some looked nice, but were chunky. We said no, to those as you do not want something chunky sticking out at the top of the stairs! We are going to get a silver/chrome metal nosing to finish it off, which will be neater and we have chrome hardware on the doors throughout the house now. the carpet just was laid, unfortunately the fitter did not have the nosing we wanted, but its on the way. I will post a pic when it is done so you can see. Here is it, unfinished, at the moment, but so far no tripping!
