It's been awhile but if i had to guess it is a recessed med cabinet that protrudes slightly from the wall probably 1/8th inch +_

shelly12345...not sure if you have completed your fireplace/room, just saw this post while looking for help with my own family room. I think would paint the fireplace and mirror white...would match the trim work of your room and your lighter furnishings. Something that was suggested to me...use some fabric or poster board to cover the wood on both, just to give you an idea of what it would look like white. That way you are not committed once the paint has been applied to the wood. I love Dytectur's idea of wallpapering the room and having the fireplace wall white. Would really pop! Good luck and post pictures if your finished or when you finish.

For what it is worth, I don't generally recommend leaning mirrors over fireplaces. They may reflect a chandelier, but what they primarily reflect is the ceiling. Not attractive in most instances. Just food for thought... The above recommendations are both terrific. Be sure they are scale appropriate.

The mirror is beautiful. Im curious as to the color of the back of the mirror? If it's black it will have a tendency to "stand" off the wall more visually, which is interesting. If you want it to visually push back then consider painting the back of the mirror the wall color.

Woodworm treatment - staining and drips

We discovered woodworm infestation in the entire ground floor, a little in the stairs, and a little in the attic. No evidence in the 1st floor. We got the ground floor filled in with insulation and concrete. We got the attic, stairs and landing sprayed by professionals. Afterwards, the walls around the stairs and landing are covered in drip marks. The ceilings above the stairs and landing is stained and blotchy. It doesn’t seem to be coming from the attic treatment as the bedroom ceilings are ok. It seems to be what was done in the stairs and landing. Has anyone had woodworm treatment done and experienced this?
