Hi - I am looking to install a dome roof light in my living room in order to maximise the light. There are a few things I am not sure about which I was hoping someone could help with
- do they lead to heat loss in the winter? as I wouldn't want the room to be a no-go zone in the winter - will it cause glare on the tv? - how do I avoid a greenhouse effect? - is there minimal sound when it rains? - are there any recommend designs or brands?
We have a dome in our kitchen - it’s always cooler under it - and the rain hammers down like a drill - it’s not something I’d want over my relaxing sofa area to be honest ! The tv glare will depend on the sun positions throughout the daylight cycle - but highly likely that at some parts of the day you may well have glare on the tv . This may be worse in winter or summer depending on the position of the tv relative to the dome.
Make a search online for Sun tubes or Sun tunnels, there are a few videos on you tube about them too. I have been using them since the 80s easy to install and they have a lower impact on your roof.
