Kitchen tile colour
Hi, I'm trying to choose a tile colour for my new kitchen/dining area that'll be:
- Navy / Stone contrasting shaker cabinets
- Dark oak laminate (my first preference was white quartz but budget has dictated).

The area will be 50 sq metres.....see floor plan.
I'm planning on getting 60x60 floor tiles but debating what colour. I don't want anything too magnolia/yellow looking but don't want a very dark tile either. I would like something with a matt finish too.
Currently considering the attached tiles - a cream colour or a light grey. Will probably go for the cream.
Was just wondering if anyone had any other ideas. I don't want a wooden floor or wood effect tiles. The adjoining hallway and living rooms have just had dark oak LVT laid.

Comments (9)Aqua might be a nice wall colour too. I think your kitchen floor tiles are nice. White in the sitting room would be good too and I would ditch the brown carpet in favour of a pale grey or else some natural sisal or similar, some houseplants and colourful artwork. I'd also replace or recover (even with slip covers) the sitting room suite with a grey or taupe cotton or similar and add a couple of zingy, colourful scatter cushions. If you do all this, it may not be necessary to paint the fireplace though, by all means do this if you want. Just be aware that once you paint brick, you can't really get the paint off i.e. it's virtually impossible to bring it back to its natural colour. As this is modern brick and only a fireplace that's not so much of an issue though as it might be in a period house with old brick....See MoreKitchen tiling

The design is here: https://my-kitchen.howdens.com/plan/gjE37205200087fl We want to use these tiles: http://www.toppstiles.co.uk/tprod44325/batik-patchwork-grey-tile.html It's a large surface area so we are quite keen not to go overboard, possibly haunted by the fact every wall is completely tiled from top to bottom in the current kitchen. The questions are: 1) Can we use the tile as an upstand of sorts, and only tile up to two tiles high (about 20cm)? Or would it be better to tile the whole area between the worktop and the wall cupboards? Should the tile height increase around the sink or will it be OK to take it all the way round at the same height? Will it be OK without a tile trim? 2) What colour sockets should we have? Can't decide between stainless steel or standard white? TIA!...See More

We are finally living in our kitchen...here are some pics of the colour scheme.
There is a hidden walk-in pantry too which has been done using units recycled from my previous in-frame kitchen!
