Design ideas please

Hi there, We've recently refloored and painted our living room. I think it's very bland and want to introduce more colour, perhaps a deep teal on the fireplace wall or something. Im struggling with choosing units for the alcove. I hate the TV stand and was thinking of something built in, put the TV higher and mounted on the wall but I cant put one on the other side or I'll have nowhere for my Christmas tree or baby's chair, will it look odd with something on one side only? Any suggestions for wall hangings and rug or no rug! Thanks in advance!

Have you thought about installing slatwall in your garage? If you are going to do this - make sure the bedrooms have plenty of wardrobe space etc - don't scrimp ! Ideally every woman wants at least double the wardrobe space she already has !! And a walk-in wardrobe / dressing room is something that would earn any developer brownie points !! So if you have the space ... Use it well !! Breakfast areas in morning sunshine work well and evening sun in the lounge is good - inside outside fireplaces can work really well and everybody needs storage for summer /winter stuff (ski /scuba /suitcases etc ) so worth adding in storage somewhere accessible (like utility room ) for that sort of gear too ! This is an awesome opportunity for you ! Have fun !!!

Love white walls, especially with colorful art or black and white photos. Move the sofa/love seat next to the table...make it look like a sectional. The rug may work...but a bit too small. Your artwork is too small and way to high. May I suggest a gallery wall? The art work should only be about 8" above couch, unless you have little ones then I totally understand. Buy some frames and start experimenting with your photos...some black and white, some sepia, blow them up. Should span 2/3 the length of sofa. Lots of ideas on gallery walls on Pinterest.
