Kitchens Design Dilemma Living Rooms

plan dilemma - advice please

Our builder suggested we get rid of the sittingroom walls and leave only the wall between the sittingroom and kitchen so we would in effect be walking from front door into the open plan sittingroom room. What do you guys think? We will not be having the stairs yet until we convert the attic in the future

Hi Louise, Lovely new kitchen, such a lovely bright space too. I would suggest going a couple of shades darker than the kitchen furniture colour so you get a contrast to the furniture and flooring. This will help keep it on a neutral palette so your other furniture and accessories are not competing with too many colours. Also as your room as so much natural light you can go for a slightly stronger wall colour and it will look superb. the photo below shows a very cool grey wall you could go for a warmer grey but it give you an idea of what you could do. Painting the walls can always be changed relatively easily, so if you want a change after a few years you can and it's a lot less costly than a new kitchen! Hi, We're looking for some design options for a house we are planning to buy. We love the house location but the kitchen \ living area is proving to be a bit of a dilemma. There is a lot of glass in the kitchen area with full length windows to the front and rear which limits the options for layouts. We had a kitchen design prepared but are unsure if this really makes the best use of the space - it includes a corner dining area which while using the space feels a bit cramped for a family of 5. Due to the door position into the kitchen the builders design looks odd as they have placed the kitchen table right in line of sight of the front door so placing the table there seems a no no. We want to have an island in the kitchen ( its plumbed etc for one ) which we can have up to 5 high seats around which is in the design. We would like to have a TV in the room ( again limited places to put one on the walls due to the glass ) and would like some suggestions on layouts there also ( maybe the TV has to go ! ) - without something that completely blocks the access to the rear doors. Any thoughts gratefully received !

Would suggest white! A warm white like wimbourne white. All of the most beautiful rooms in my house are painted white! Then add in some wall art and some plants.

We are in the process of buying this house and ive ideas of how to make it work best for our young family but it would be great to get some thoughts on my proposed layout. Any advice would be hugely appreciated. On the right we are thinking of making the drawing room smaller, adding a wall and creating a pantry which can be accessed through the utility room. On the left we are thinking of adding a wall to the dining room to make half the room an office and the rest of the space a boot room. The w/c is tiny and under the stairs with steps down so this needs to change. I was considering adding a w/c when you come in on the right of the door as the 'studio' is just dead space - pic attached. In the kitchen I'm also considering knocking the wall to the living room to make this more open plan and potentially doing a v small extension off the kitchen for a playroom that would lead out to the garden. My two boys are under three so I want the playroom to be as near the kitchen as possible. Excuse my very simplistic drawing - hopefully it explains what I'm trying to articulate. Would really love some thoughts
