We'd like to use aluminum grating in a few places around our pool

Is it comfortable on bare feet? It will most likely be used in the shade, and I assume aluminum does not get too hot as long as there is no direct sunlight?

The grating used at the Margarido House was a standard spaced grating with an approximate 1” x 4” opening. I am sorry to say you don't have room. You are only giving yourself 36" in front of the ovens and only 31" for passage on the opposite side and 42" is not enough between the island and the sink. You might find a smaller 30" wide x 48" moveable stainless steel prep table and placed in the opposite direction, it might work for additional counter surface but not give you the seating you would like.

Hi Mairebee and hi Victoria ! Thanks for the mention ! Drawers seem to be more popular than cupboards nowadays - as easier to access what's in there - and shelves look pretty but in reality they can get greasy so are a bit high maintenance !! Appliance postponing is dependent on the final design - could be in various different places ! As you have a fab sized room to work with !! The way we work is we'd sketch a few variations first then CAD up the one ( or mix of various ones) that you feels works best for you and the tweak it so it's just right! ( for about the cost of a dishwasher ) we then supply all the jpegs of the plans and perspectives and panoramics in to a PDF with a complete item list so you can shop around with ease !! Gosh, I've returned after a week travelling for work to loads more suggestions - thanks all! To respond specifically: - the house faces south so gets the lovely morning (and in the uk, sometimes the only) sun. - the husband has avoided putting plants in the planters due to maintenance and they're generally twee so comments here have confirmed to me that they will be coming out - love the idea of wooden boxes with the spiky plants and grasses - also like the concept of taking out the grass/bed/tree in front completely out and replacing with slabs - yes to lightening the windows - to the Barn company, I honestly don't mind the advice and I'd never seen sloping garage roofs. - nicking ideas from landscaping of new builds....great idea! - finally, Helen Scholes, I'm embarrassed about the spelling of kerb. Had no idea! Thanks again all.

Hello Houzz Ireland, We are currently renovating a 1960's build - so as you know, there is a lot of decisions to be made!! So it would be nice to get some gems of advice from the experts to help us through this daunting task. Areas where we would really like some inspiration for - small bathroom downstairs. I would really like to do something fun with this room and although small, I think it could work really well with some funky wallpaper or possibly tiles?! I'm just not sure what to do with it. Also - pulling a whole house together?! Where do we start? We have the bigger pieces of furniture but how do I know what nest of tables goes best with a suite? Or what accessories will bring a room together? I'm due a second baby in 2 weeks time so any help at this stage would be so amazing - to guide me on the right interior design path for our new house.
