It's curtains for me...

...unless I can figure this out.

I'm in the middle of decorating our bedroom and having a curtain dilemma. The wall behind the bed will be yellow with a beige/sand colour on the rest. My issue is what to do with the curtains. I already have a light grey roller blind on the window but want heavier curtains.

The wall with the window is adjacent to the yellow wall. Do I go complementary with a blue/purple, do I go neutral?

This is really stressing me out.

Hello Jen, I am so surprised that no one has mentioned vertical blinds to you? They are very much back in fashion and work beautifully in a room such as yours. They come in 3.5" veins, which mean they will fold back and tuck into each recess when fully open. They turn to let as much light in as you need and then close when you want full privacy. They will be fitted in the recess above the windows. You can either have one complete rail length or two so you have a separate section over the door. You can have what's know as a middle split, i.e: half goes left and right. Personally I would suggest one length that opens to the left, therefore leaving your door completely uncovered when open. The pulley system is very much like a roller blind and are safety fixed to the wall so children can not get caught in them. They come in a huge rang of colours and materials and better still they are very affordable. I am working with a number of new developments in Hertfordshire at the moment and these are what the clients are all asking for. I know exactly how you feel. I had a similar situation. The prospect of lifting the board and potentially raising the level made me wait. The wood darkened, and now I'm never fully sure where that board is. In fact, I forgot all about it till I saw this post. Wait a while. If it still bothers you in six months or a year maybe then consider lifting it. But I guarantee you won't, lol!

I'd like the shutters option above (nice example pics!) but I'd probably go for solid shutters & keep them open during the day because the example above just block too much light for me! In M-C Bennett's case, seeing as it appears to be a dark room, I'd go for solid shutters on the bottom & just leave the top window as a feature, uncovered window! Downside of shutters is, yes, you keep the use of your windowsill, but you have to remove everything to open & close them! Nothin wrong with a nice neat deep velour curtain either!!

so I’m struggling to pick curtains in the living room we are getting new couches one tan brown leather and the other fabric with a subtle duck egg in it, I have elephants breath on the walls and I cant decide which palette to go for on the curtains. Gold accessories in the room. I’m thinking going darker as in a charcoal grey but should I go creams as there’s a lot of colors anyway in the room? Got a few samples with a gold tone but they’re quite blah against the elephants breath! Confused now!!!
