Comments (13)I have a tile roof, and they make going mod kind of difficult, but they do add charm. With the sort of earthy color scheme i posted before, you could paint the bricks with masonry paint in a paler tone like sw ancient marble or wash them with a more grayed green so they add taupe tones if you do the chimneys the same - but really, the color resonates with the roof, so use it as color inspiration. Look at 100 year old homes with lines like this and their window mullions - if the upper elements and sides of the larger picture window had muntins / grilles, they would be more charming. Still, you are aiming at retro farmhouse with the muntins, not necessarily authentic historic . . but that gives you some concept about how to go and search for inspiration. You don't have to tear out the entire ramp - could widen "pad/porch" to left and put stairs right down the front depending on car park / depth to roadway design - have your ramp and stairs and just take off the old handrail too . . great for universal design when selling tho railing is not attractive....See MoreThree Storey Flower bed
Comments (15)That's a very good idea Christy, I actually have two white roses that are climbers but I will probably have to improvise on the trellis (link on an idea of DIY that would allow me to paint the frame purple as the edge of the flower beds http://houzz.com/s/m=7/u=L3Bob3Rvcy8yNjIwMjcz). Thank you Christy, really helpful advice!...See MoreFront garden beds and improving street appeal.
Comments (16)Hi nick. Thanks. Yes, i have come to that realisation after being told it by everyone i speak to! So looking at hedging or other ideas for the side fences then shrubs / plants / flowers for the main parts. I'd be interested innyour ideas. On the other side if the fence, if you mean the road side, the footpath is right up against the fence. I'd say the footpath is maybe 1.5m wide, maybe a bit more....See MorePop of Colour
Comments (4)I suggest creating 2 areas in this room, one conversational at the fireplace and the other for TV viewing. Move the TV to either the wall by the curved sofa or the corner where the end table is located in the image. Something larger on the mantel about the size of the firebox opening such as the mirror over the curved sofa. The mirror over the sofa should be lowered to about 6"-8" over the couch if you leave it as is. Select different toss pillows that are textured. Find a shag carpet that is larger and carries multiple beige and brown tones. Consider replacing the coffee and end tables with glass ones or fabric covered stripes. There is nothing wrong with monochromatic you just need to add the texture to make it work. If you are craving color think one color, such as midtone blue, green or red. Use it sparingly and replace any small decor with much larger items....See Morerachelmidlands
