Is the deck in contact with the ground or its cut away underneath?

I would imagine this deck would rot if in contact with the ground

    Thanks for your question Giles. The ground is cut away and has a provision for drainage so it doesn't flood. All the wood is protected from the ground using plastic damp proof membrane.
