Help - first coat on, is it too dark?
Comments (55)Hi Travis and SoYoung - thanks for mentioning the fireplace.....I was thinking that I would keep it simple with a wood shelf over it and a large piece of Art but I now think it might be a bit lost. Would love some ideas as it needs to work with the built-ins which are slightly domineering. Also, Liam_Boyle - agree re the unbalance. The TV will be staying but I have a lovely coffee table and 2 identical sofas coming so I'm hoping to lay out symmetrically in the room. Will keep 1 of the chairs. Hope this will balance up. Thanks....See MoreNeed help! Paint colour and ideas for large kitchen wall.
Comments (10)Hi Maria. It's a lovely kitchen and I must admit I like the white so would probably change the accessories. I would add a huge sunburst clock or mirror above the cabinets (can't work out if it's a clock or mirror above the fire). Add a statement light over the table. Try a coloured splashback behind the cabinets. Add some coloured stools. I would say paint the kitchen chairs but I can see they are good quality! If you do want to paint then either blues, violets or even a very soft grey if you add some coloured accesories. Do make sure the colour blends with the lounge though as you can obviously see through....See MoreSmall downstairs toilet & shower - are my ideas gonna work?
Comments (12)Hi. I think the overall look is good. Large tiles do make a room feel bigger as the pattern is less busy however I've seen the hex tiles in small bathrooms and they seem to work as your inspiration pic shows. I would probably lose the flowers though if I'm honest. Do you want the window for light or ventilation? Could a decent extractor be sufficient? I'm thinking that back ŵall could look quite busy. Is there any opportunity to change the layout? Moving soil pipes can be a little costly but could the sink be moved although ideally the loo would be hidden round the corner. You can pick up some great looking vintage or vintage style taps on ebay although unsure if the quality of the repro ones, If the layout can't be changed maybe have a corner loo and ŵall hung trough sink and put some storage in on the rhs as you come through the door depending on how you plan for the shower to open...See MoreHouzz Live Chat - Designing a Dream Kitchen, 1 pm, 15 July 2016
Comments (80)A15) @Dara Cooke: If you can't afford a quartz or granite worktop from day one then I would recommend using a laminate worktop as a temporary solution. If you don't put tiles up as a backsplash then replacing the worktops can be relatively easy in a couple of years....See MoreCoco
