Comments (11)I agree with everything said so far. Would suggest you get built in book shelvers on both sides of fireplace, lift tv into a slot it fits perfectly into (make sure you have power on both sides). Then it will disappear more rather than fight with fireplace as focal point. I am always disappointed with mirrors over fireplaces, they become dark, are to high to reflect much. Plus then you have three rectangles fighting for center stage. I'd say very colorful artwork instead. Wonder if you can reorient tv where the big chairs are so both tv and fireplace are addressed? Color, maybe you should decide on furniture first?...See MoreAny ideas for final touches to this living/dinning room?
Comments (51)Just a quick note to thank you all for sharing your thought, ideas, experience and time. I especially want to thank Bluenan and decoenthusiaste for being with me through the all process for the last 6 months or so..., just wanted to post few photos of the results (https://www.houzz.com/discussions/any-ideas-for-final-touches-to-this-living-dinning-room-dsvw-vd~569586) as I feel it is not only me who created this space but it is your creations as much as mine. It may not be perfect or according to the the "Rules", but it is Me and my family. Each and every piece was chosen by me in different parts of the world and each one of them has a unique story behind. I am very pleased with my space. I love it! I am very blessed. .... and so I am off to my new project now... Back to school.... that's really going to be hard ;) Thank you all, once again....See Moreneed help with making a living room bar
Comments (1)My first thought, upon reading your dilemma, was Hmmm.......... But let's give this a shot - why not use a small table? Place the two mini-bar fridges underneath and use the surface for drinks and appies. Corral glasses onto trays. The table below is 28"X58" from Crate & Barrel. This almost doesn't seem like a dilemma....See MoreHELP make my living room, relaxing, luxurious on a tight budget
Comments (9)Thrift shops rule! You can pick up the practical stuff---tables, chairs, chests of drawers, and even upholstered items---and make them your own with chalk paint and slipcovers. Sometimes you can find attractive art. Lamps are also super cheap at such places as the Salvation Army, and you can paint those, too. Chalk paint can be used indoors, as it requires no messy sanding and has essentially no smell. I think you'll also want a rug and curtains. If I were you, I'd use the greater part of my budget on a good rug or two that I could keep forever. Lots of people make their own drapes out of drop cloths, but Ikea curtains are a pretty cheap option. Good luck. You're going to have fun decorating your new place....See MoreMarina Drobot at Cinnamon Space
