Posted last year as odd shaped room any new suggestions welcome.

No focal point not sure if i should put L shaped sofa on long wall or focal tv point here.

That's a working fireplace isn't it? I agree that the fire surround is probably not in keeping with your tastes and would probably look perfectly at home in a rustic country cottage, but just not for you. There are several options open to you, and if your a bit handy with the DIY, none of them need to cost much, it's just a little hard work. Remove the fire surround and see what dimensions you have with the actual fireplace, it might be that you can also remove the iron plate around it, thus leaving you with a much smaller actual fire. However, be aware that it will affect, the plaster, the skirting and the hearth, as everything is currently built to home the fire surround. You could go............at that point for making good the walls and keep it simple by having a floating shelf only, or another fire surround that's simpler. Loads on Ebay! Just make sure they're suitable for a working fire!

Your couch seems to face the fireplace, so I would suggest if you area able to chase the wiring to here, it would probably be the best bet. Don't go too high though, it should be as close to your eye level as possible when sitting. Harder to resolve will be the boxes for the TV, you may need to form a shelf in the side bay that can take these.

Positioning of furniture in living room, what do you think?

Hi, we're trying to figure where the furniture should go in this living room. We would like to place a three seater, two seater and the television as a starting point. There is no fireplace or other focal point in the room. You also have to walk through this room to get to the kitchen so the furniture cannot block this route. There is a deep alcove on the left of the room where we would like to put a small work station with shelves on the wall above the desktop. Would you hang the television on the long wall or put it in the corner opposite the workstation alcove? We could put a three seater under the window but where to place a two seater is a problem. We need more seating than one couch can supply. Any ideas? Thank you

Playroom advice... We are at the planning stage of a new build. Design at the moment has a large open plan kitchen, living and dining. There is a 2nd large living room off this area but not visible from the kitchen. My initial thinking was that we'll never really use the 2nd living room so we'll turn that into a playroom and do it up down the road. I'm doubting myself now and wondering if I need a 3rd room as an actual playroom? Any advice appreciated!

Hello, can you give a little bit more details about you room? I can't understand if there is fireplace? how big is your family and what do you like to do in this room? do you need any storage or area for collection of books, art or anything else? will try to help you with some ideas then. Alena

Hi, i have included some photos theres no fireplace , have tried sofa under window also photo of sofa previously against wall. Want to buy new furniture but dont know best place to make focal point or what type of sofa would be best in room.
