This fireplace composition is contemporary. Both the hearth and mantle are black granite (from one slab) the actual color is "absolute black" and both featured a honed finish. They are installed over a structural tube-steel frame to keep them from developing any deflection over time due to the weight of each piece and the fact that they protrude from the face of the stacked stone by 8" and from the painted gypsum board by 18".
The paint color is white. Each paint manufacturer has their own name for pure white but to the best of my knowledge this was Sherwin Williams "Extra White".
