Lovely room -what was the end ceiling height in the bulk of the room?

I can see that the front portion on the ceiling has been maintained at its original height but the back of the room has had it lowered. Just wondering what the finished height of the lowered part is please? Thanks

The side of the room by the window has a cathedral ceiling effect which goes all the way up to the roof. The ceiling height in the main part of the room is about 2.3m. Getting these heights in the room all starts from dropping the floor on the GF so we have more volume to play with. We also take out and replace all the joists which means we can re-set all the room heights in the house.

Thanks! Yeah I tried to rotate the bed so the headboard would be opposite the radiator but it meant the wardrobe doors wouldn't open. I may need to change the bed frame to include storage space alright but it would need to add height not width which is tricky to find ready made. I like the idea of a loft bed but since it's rented I don't think I could really do anything that involves attaching to walls...

They seem to be different types of windows so you can dress them accordingly. If you don't hem the draperies to a specific height you will be forced to hang them a the same height. I am sure you know that... :) When you get a picture up that will help tremendously to give you more focused advice. Placing them just off the ceiling will help make the room seem taller, as well as the windows. Good Luck - Chrissy

The pictures you have above the sofa would serve you better if displayed in a hallway or foyer or even in a larger collection of photos in a family room. You definitely need more color in this room and a larger area rug. The sofa and wall colors look the same on my computer, so I suggest you paint the walls a color that will make the sofas stand out more. I also would suggest you find a much larger, print area rug that contains an accent color and center it in the room. Perhaps you could find a large, colorful picture to serve as wall art and also as the inspiration for the color scheme and especially for the accent color I suggested. In addition to the rug, you could use the accent color in throws and throw pillows to be placed on the sofas. I also would like to suggest that you add a wide piece of white-painted trim above the windows/patio doors (whatever) and attach the metal rod to this piece of trim. The trim will add emphasis to the glassed-in space as well as to the dark-colored rod and curtains.

Why don't you have an L shape and use the area under the window also for your sink and a couple of extra units? you could add shelves on either side of the window? Not sure why your fridge has to go at that end? might be best at the other end? As Sarah, suggests, get full height cupboards, and put the microwave in one of those, so that you're not losing so much space. Extra storage is probably more useful than having the microwave on display? It can easily be put on a shelf within a cupboard. (Our isn't even in our kitchen, but then we only use it once a week or so... so really depends) I'd also suggest drawers to the bottom of your units instead of cupboards.
