Colour of Windows.

Hi everyone,
We are currently in a the process of renovating our house. It's a semi detached property. We need to decide on the Windows. I'm leaning towards aluminum, and loving the dark colors that are on trend currently. However, virtually the whole row of houses close to us, including the property we are attached to have white Windows. Would it be better to keep the same colour scheme? TIA

We have changed our windows from white to black and they look so much better. I would definitely say go for a dark aluminium and stand out from the rest of the street.

In my opinion you should keep white. If you choose something different to the other side of the semi you give you neighbours a green light to not conform either and their choices might not be to your taste.

Estate agents will likely back up this statement that semis that do not complement or match each other have less curb appeal as the contrast with neighbours is more noticeable

I found your house in your ideabook area. Usually I do not like to cut a house in half with painted trim, but I love this house I found. The inner windows R painted white but I'd paint all windows, sills, trim & band across house, that enchanting French-gray-green. The house in photo seems more buff than cream. Hi, Moving into a new house which is currently painted white with white PVC windows. We're planning on replacing the windows with Aluclad windows and I was looking for suggestions on colour combinations. Initially, I was thinking that I'd repaint the house white and go with Anthracite Grey frames. However I'm a little worried that it's very fashionable at the minute and might date in the next couple of years. I've also seen a few houses lately with lighter coloured windows which looked good. One had a grey with what looks to be almost an olive undertone with the walls painted a deep creamy shade. I'd be really interested to hear what colour combinations other people have gone for and whether I risk dating the house as '2016' with a white/dark grey/anthracite combination. I'll post photos later of the house as it is currently and a mock up of the house with dark grey windows. Thanks a million!!

hi All, I’m looking for advice on window colors. we’re doing a contemporary flat roof extension to the side & rear of a 1930’s house. We’re having a debate with our architect on what color windows to choose for the existing house & the new extension. does anyone have any advice on having chalk windows on the existing house & dark grey on the extension? That's what my concern is Jonathandb1972 Don't want to spend all that money and for it to have a negative effect. Yet on the other hand, I feel as though the white aluminum will end up looking like pvc!

Consider if the cheaper UPVC is appropriate for the value of your house and the road scape of your local area
