we have a cappuccino gloss kitchen with walnut counter. we are yet to paint. we cannot decide on colour schemes for wall and ceiling. we are open to a bold statement! rather than magnolia it all.! Thanks.

I would probably just go with a white or off white for walls and white for ceiling.

You've already got your colour in the kitchen, so keep it simple.

Hello Orla,

I love your Kitchen, you have nice fitting, stunning floor and lots of space!

Have you got a splash back already? If not, what are you thinking to add, if you are?

With those cabinets some glass panel would look nice and you could pick a colourful one as well.

Walls painted in white would look quite flat and boring in your case so I would definitely go for a warm colour or maybe off yellow, that would suit your cabinets colour and the floor too.

Hi I notice your blind and lamp are Laura Ashley Pelham. Laura Ashley does a duck egg white, pale duck egg and duck egg paint colours. Maybe you could have the duck egg white as the predominant colour and use in both rooms but also use the pale duck egg or duck egg in the lounge, or add some wallpaper. Not sure grey walls would work with the kitchen units. Perhaps more of a taupe/warm grey would work in both spaces though.

We have just bought a house and the renovation plans are coming together nicely, but the kitchen and sitting room area have me stumped! I love modern, open plan design, so I want to join the both areas to create a big family friendly space. The balcony is a fantastic feature of the house, so I'm thinking bifold doors the length of the kitchen to let in light and join the indoor & outdoor space. But that leaves very little options as far as I can see for placement of the kitchen cabinets. I have attached the floor plan of the relevant level of the house. Can anyone give me some brilliant ideas?

I am back again. I decided against the tile originally proposed as the advice here was totally right, the tile had a strong pink/salmon tone. Thanks so much to everyone. I have been searching again and attached is what I am now thinking of going for. I think this tile is very neutral, should match a lot of colours, is warm and easy to keep. It should also match a modern kitchen. Opinions please!!!

The splash back was a great choice!

That is also neutral so you may consider adding some colours to your kitchen. Have you thought of some accessories or maybe pendant lights?

In your case I would definitely pick something bold, or maybe paint one wall in a different colour. How do you feel about light yellow? I could also see there some warm greys but in my opinion that would look dull together with the furniture.

Hi Orla,

lovely kitchen and colour. You said you were thinking of going for a bold colour in the kitchen. Have a look on the Farrow and Ball website to see if any of colours might just jump out at you.

A bluey colour might be quite a statement. This is their cook's blue and stone blue which might be an idea for you if you want a statement colour.
