Extension

Hi we are in the middle of building and extension that will make our existing Kitchen bigger and a tv room open plan off the kitchen . We will have 4 panel sliding doors in the centre of the back wall and had planned a corner sofa on the left and tv on the wall across but it is probably 5 m wide so we think now we will be too far away from the tv . If we have the corner sofa in the middle of the room it's going to be close to the opening of the doors it's hard to imagine at present as we are only 3rd week in but I'm afraid it won't look right and not really any other place we can place the corner sofa any advice I know it's probably hard to advise with no pictures at present !

Hi

Are you replacing you kitchen? If so then seek out the services of a decent kitchen designer, either an Independent Kitchen Designer or a designer from a decent Independent Kitchen Specialist then they will be able to look at a design for the whole space you are creating.

If I'm being honest, I'm really not sure on this layout. You have services on both sides of the extension, which even with my limited knowledge of building is expense that you could avoid. Do you need a laundry and a utility, or could you combine them.? Also I hate the idea of a toilet off the kitchen. The garage also looks small. Could you take out the door on the garage and make that the bathroom off your corridor, and make the corridor your utility. Then you have all the space free where the new bathroom and utility are. If you want more space for the utility and bathroom I would suggest bringing that wall in (make kitchen and dining narrower) and that would have the advantage of making your study wider. One other point is that leaving the study there with a window to the side will make the kitchen very dark.

Can I make a quick repair to kitchen extension

My first story kitchen extension looks like it's separating from the main house. There is a 2 inch crack in the concrete all the way round. Is there anything that I can do to fix this. I am saving for a new extension but will take me a few years. It looks like the roof felt is coming away from the house too as there are wet patches on the ceiling. Any advice would be appreciated
