Open Space Dilemma in Living room area of extension!

Hi, just looking for any advice! We built on an extension out our back 3 years ago where we have a new kitchen and living area. Our old kitchen area is now the dining room.

We are still working away on the house but are stuck on what to do with the space in our living area part of the extension. From the picture you can see we have a corner couch to the right of the area, that's where we have our tv and fire.

Kitchen is down the other end with island and chairs, Its this big space we don't know what to do with!

We had the dining table and chairs in there for ages but that's moved out to the old part of the house now, so left with this area! We were thinking before of a nice corner bar, not tacky but don't know, or another table and chairs or bookshelf/nice bit of furniture. We cant decide! the door here will lead out to back of garden where we will have a decking area with furniture and log cabin out the very end of garden. Don't want it too cluttered looking but its a big space. When we are finished everything, we will talk to maybe an interior designer about colours and accessories for the house as we are terrible with that area but at the moment stuck on ideas for this space! If anyone could help.

We aren't ignoring you - sometimes it is just timing! We are still stuck in inches over here too, so takes a bit of time to convert. If you need play space and living and dining, then I'm going to suggest you need a built in banquette on the wall opposite the fireplace . . though I would sneak it to within 1600 meters of the island edge and run it for at least 1900 meters or so. That will allow you to place the table 2' / 640 closer to the wall opposite the storage and fire and give you a larger living space remaining . slide the dining closer to the island . . a lot closer. This suggestion came after I first attempted to parallel the dining table to the island and saw what space you have left. Your size dining table is assumed to be the one that is drawn. Or what you hope to have . . when you banquette and slide dining towards the kitchen, that might encourage you to shift the fireplace a bit closer to the top of the drawing . . so it was centered down where enjoying it might also afford a view. I also am unclear about where the front door is - if the top elevation is the glass wall system that will open all the way, you should place the single door that opens by itself on the left. Between the dining table and the glass wall is the area for a play space . . . near the out of doors but away from the kitchen.

Hi I notice your blind and lamp are Laura Ashley Pelham. Laura Ashley does a duck egg white, pale duck egg and duck egg paint colours. Maybe you could have the duck egg white as the predominant colour and use in both rooms but also use the pale duck egg or duck egg in the lounge, or add some wallpaper. Not sure grey walls would work with the kitchen units. Perhaps more of a taupe/warm grey would work in both spaces though.
