Would love to get some help with my bedroom
Comments (16)i agree with most suggestions above. but dont remove your current rug because u can actually layer a faux fur rug over it. plus your rug has amazing rustic colours and u can use them as accents. maybe over time you may invest in new pillowcases/quilt covers complementing the colours of the rug..peach/mint/cream/ to name a few. may also add some mettalic cushions combo. you can always take them off if you want that summery feel in which switch to sweet pastels. a lot of pillows are important! lol! i'd get rid of the plant. the dressing table n side tables could be black (lacquer may be interesting)with gold knobs (think art deco). dressing table should be move to the side so you get more light and space near the window. maybe mirror can be placed against the window so ull also get natural light when you're admiring your reflection. ur room has an eclectic feel to it.. its great just needs some rearrangments thats all....See MoreUpcycle mental block! Comments (7)Dear Éilíse Sullivan, the mahogany wardrobe looks like a great project! The image is too small for me to see the details of it; it looks like has glass/metal door at the top part and design details on the draws. If you send me a better quality image and with the door closed I can visualised it for you in any other colour you like if it helps. Replacing part of the furniture (glass) with solid panels covered in wall paper or fabric, using decoupage for the inside of the drawers or muted colours on the outside and brights on the inside ... are all possibility depending in which room you want to place it and what you are going to use it for. Are you going to do it for yourself, just for fun or to sell/present? I would paint the back panel in a darker colour, also the inside of the wardrobe part and all the horizontal and vertical straight lines to frame the different units: draws, 'open shelf' cabinet at the top and door. I would go for wall paper on the inside of the draws, something sympathetic with the darker tone on the back panel ... the handle can stay or be replaced (I need a closer look); they can really give a wist to the furniture if changed. For the choice of colours ... it really depend on where it goes and what you want to do with it. The room's images you posted are quite different in style. You could try to 'blend' the piece in to the room's design scheme by choosing complementary colours or go the opposite and bring in a bold statement. I like bold statements! I found this link with fab images that may help you see how a furniture with more details then a plain one will looks once painted: http://www.pippajamesoninteriors.co.uk/2011/design-post/a-guide-to-shabby-chic-furniture-painting/ Also have a look at this company https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jay-Co/100811059987662?sk=timeline it may inspire you to take a different direction! Have fun and please post an 'after' pic when done, really curios to see the final result! Elena Jackson - Interior & Design...See MoreWhat type of chair is this and where can it be bought
Comments (6)It looks like a Thonet Bentwood chair of which there are many many copies. They were made in Czechoslovakia , as was. I have a set of copies but can see no name. If you want originals try www.midcenturymodern.co.uk. which is a great website and which also holds exhibitions, mainly in London at Dulwich College. Good luck!...See MoreI need help to get in light.
Comments (5)Hello kswardrobe, Well some thoughts are... can you put in some internal glass doors? This would allow light to flow from rooms... Presume the bedroom has a window but is north facing? Is the front door also part of this hallway? Can you install a door with glass too? So the hall can benefit from light in this way too? Other things would be to leave doors open so that light from rooms can flood out into the hall.. Further ideas are well placed mirrors that bounce light.. What is on the walls? Does this hinder the feeling of light and airy.. light flooring would also help here too.. :))...See Moresohouse456
