Thanks SusanP. for your comment. We will be replacing the two lamps either side of the door, I was also wondering about the two glass window panes with the Georgian bars either side of the door. They are very white. Would two glass panes, perhaps with some lead in the same colour as the door look better? There are already five large windows with white bars on front of house (incl. one on each side of porch).

I would paint the door and replace the lights first and then see if you still don't like them. There is a lot of interest happening in the windows and the glass panels, however, I would keep these panels a consistent colour with the other windows. It's hard to tell from the photo how big the steps are. If there is room...What you could do is add to big charcoal square pots with a tall plant to soften the glass side panels.

Thanks again SusanP. I very much like the idea putting pots either side and thus hiding part of the side panels and also giving more interest to the entrance. There are new steps already in place made of slate (colour as in roof) which is what you had suggested and the pots could go right in front of the panels. As far as the wall lamps I am not 100% sure...I gave googled some lights and wonder which ones would look best. I really like the ones on the brick door, but perhaps they would look too busy in my situation? Also a picture of two planters in front of a door and two lanterns framing the door, perhaps something to consider for my door? Thank you so much for your help.

One more. Which style would you recommend looks best? They are black, but don't think they are made of iron. Not sure, would have to check.

Just wanted to add something regarding the steps since I had also asked for advice on them: we had steps installed in slate, but unfortunately they did not turn out to look very nice, so will need to get redone . Was wondering if we should also incorporate some of the bricks seen on the porch, perhaps as risers covered by blue limestone or slate just to tie everything together?

Hello Helen M...I like the more squared shaped outdoor lights more than the round. I pressed the like button on the two I prefer. Your idea to incorporate some of the bricks on the porch and then blue limestone would work too.
