I do not see velvets and silks for a kitchen sink window sorry. There are plenty of gorgeous fabrics around with beautiful damask or geometric pattern that are striking, that could be found in a faux silk or linen. Velvet is something that I would never put in a kitchen. But it is your kitchen.

For a kitchen, my favorite is a roman shade. It gives you the beauty of fabric with the function of a shade.

Did you end up putting the rollers outside the recess ? I imagine yes otherwise you'd have problems opening the window ? Thanks for your help :-)

I have a 1960s house with large windows and I'm looking for advice on the type of blinds that would best suit them. All of the windows are large but the two main living/dining room windows are 3m X 1.8m and 2.3m X 1.8m. They each have three openings to the side. As the windows face on to a road, I'd like to keep privacy. I don't want people walking by looking in but I would like to be able to see out, if possible. Any advice or opinions are very much appreciated.
