KITCHEN CABINET DESIGN PASS THRU TO DINING ROOM

I need help with this design- Kitchen side 139" wall space with 54 x42" window pass thru to dining room. Using white shaker cabinets 12" deep base with bar sink in kitchen - want to use wall cabinets with glass and granite top for buffet. going to mirror same on dining room side in black length of wall is 120" wall space - need HELP with good design of cabinet balance on both sides...THANK YOU.

I would try and center the sink base cabinet on the window opening. After the other base cabinets are installed, draw a plumb line from the side of the base cabinet on the left of the window. Now determine the size of the trim on the opening, looks like it is a wide trim from the photo. The space from the plumb line to the trim will determine the maximum cabinet i would install on the left side. I would have a granite top made for the pass thru as well to match the kitchen top. To balance determine space to right of window and use proper size cabinet to finish. This way the window will look balanced.

Don't really understand the question - center sink on kitchen side and on other side center cabinets under the window or you can extend over to the wall and add a wall cabinet.

Hi PCmom, sstarr and lefty47. Thanks a million for the comments and views. I'm taking it all on board. PCmom I like the frosted glass idea but I think it will block too much light. We are actually thinking of doing this though in our front sitting room as the window is floor to ceiling. Love the recycled lumber idea and it looks great in the photo - think my husband is hell bent on steel shelving though. sstarr - I'm gonna have a look at your profile pics now but I don't think we will have enough wall space for floor to ceiling pantry. lefty47 we are keeping the appliances for now. It is only the oven - its not the prettiest but its functional and we will most definitely get a new fitted one in the future. There are a few other pictures there of the room around and the left wall - can you not see them? If not I can try and add them again. I'm glad you liked the toilet paper. It took me ages to decide where to place that! What does everyone think about colours of the cabinets? I think we might go for a neutral tone on the wall (unless anyone can visualise anything better?) and either with the steel shelving or possibly the recycles ,lumber idea from PCmom? Hi ...Zaz I am not sure what went on here in Houzz .... While I have been away ..(sneezing coughing sweating) Whatever it was Move on from it !! as best you can ... Otherwise these things eat away at you ... And being on a downer that's not good for anyone ..........including you .... You have a Talent truly you do Lots see it ...... Even if you can't ....... So Put it toooooo good use If not for yourself ........ Then for others so they might enjoy it Seeing others smile from Something you have done Is gift.... Hi minnie101, Thanks so much for your detailed reply. Great to know what colour that grey is. It may be a little dark with our floor. We will definitely update the handles - I hate the current ones. We'll probably go with wood to keep within budget. Your non-tiles pic is lovely. We'll probably keep some tiles and try to keep the kitchen a little more modern than country kitchen, which might be a challenge with wood. The room faces south. I like your idea of dividing it with paint. We probably will go with white in the kitchen and then 1/2 slightly darker tones in the tv-couch area. The 'other' entrance into the dining area is narrowed by a non-structural wall, so we should remove this to open it properly or like you say, close it off. Maybe not close it off entirely as we'd lose a lot of light, but maybe put in a counter or breakfast bar if space allowed. I love your pendant light suggestions over the dining table. Details like this and a rug in the couch area will really help divide the room as at the moment it is one big cavernous space. I really can't decide yet what way the couches should face - into a tv in the corner, or out into the room like you suggest. We'll have to draw out some chalk outlines on the floor and see how much space there actually is. Colour-wise we like the idea of keeping walls and cabinets quite stark, the wood counter will add a bit of warmth, and then adding colour with couches, rugs and possibly dining chairs. I've attached a couple of pieces of furniture I like. Some may not work, but we'll figure it out.

Hello Houzz Ireland, We are currently renovating a 1960's build - so as you know, there is a lot of decisions to be made!! So it would be nice to get some gems of advice from the experts to help us through this daunting task. Areas where we would really like some inspiration for - small bathroom downstairs. I would really like to do something fun with this room and although small, I think it could work really well with some funky wallpaper or possibly tiles?! I'm just not sure what to do with it. Also - pulling a whole house together?! Where do we start? We have the bigger pieces of furniture but how do I know what nest of tables goes best with a suite? Or what accessories will bring a room together? I'm due a second baby in 2 weeks time so any help at this stage would be so amazing - to guide me on the right interior design path for our new house. Have you consulted a designer because it is important to have an overall design. A professional designer is money well spent because we need an overal plan for kitchen and home.

I think you need a professional to see the home and create some visuals for you. There isn't a simple answer on line answer here.
