Narrow House (15.4ft / 4.7m) - what are my layout options?
Comments (9)HI -- gross635 -- Your right to some degree but you can't move the main floor bath to the other side because then that interfers with the floor plan on the second floor. Would not work . I would have loved to turn the whole plan around but it won't work in this case. Added note to what I posted before is to get rid of anywalls you don't need and also not every room has to have a door. Like the one on the lounge and the one at the end of the hall. I would open the lounge up by not having the walls on the entrance hall . As for a closet , there is space in front of the set back powder room for some coat hooks etc. I also question the fact of , if the lounge is really needed. Everything could have been shifted to the front and the kitchen set back , then that would have made a larger dining/familyroom area . But that would have ruined the resale value . So I think moving the bathrooms was the lest and best for this plan. One question I have , is this an English plan ?, because the English love putting doors on every room ?And usually the doors swing the wrong way....See MoreDo these curtains go??
Comments (11)One problem is that your curtains aren't full enough for the wide window. Houzz might have a formula but I found one here: http://www.ehow.com/way_6038775_many-should-hung-double-window_.html. Also, try this: remove the tie backs and let the curtains fall naturally. That should help a little with the fullness. Then buy pillows that bring in those colors. You can also add color to that bookcase by painting it the same color as the wall for a more built-in look. Add more collectibles or books to the shelves. Then find a large graphic poster for that long wall. Next pull the sofa and chairs closer to the fireplace so that they have at least two feet on the rug. Pull the end table closer to the furniture. Drop the picture on the right of the window down about 5". It's way too high....See MoreHelp! Please! No clue what to do
Comments (4)Hi! I had a quick look through the Houzz pics (imaginatively, under 'beige wardrobes'!) and most seem to be shades of coffee, caramel etc to tone with the wardrobes. I've attached some of the pics. One included a blue as an accent, which looked lovely if you're feeling brave! Alternatively, is the an option for taking off one or two of the doors, so some storage was open? I appreciate that's not ideal when you've paid for new doors, but might be a way of breaking up the colour, which might make it easier for you to enjoy? Final alternative: photo magnets are available in quite cool little squares. You could use sepia tones and arty images and use that to break up the panels, if you really hate them. I would guess, though, that with some room tweaks and time, you'll feel happier with them! Fingers crossed :) Good luck xx...See MoreDownstairs toilet- what colours to add
Comments (0)Hello ! I have been trying for several days to find how to best complete the look for the downstairs toilet, I really love the floor tiles but im struggling to complete the the rest of the look, is looking way too white and the white skirting boards don't seem to match with the tiles either, but I have no idea what to do? Im not sure if I should paint the walls or maybe a feature wall or panelling, painting the skirting boards or just limit to adding some wall decorations like plants or photos? I also don't know what colours could match! Any idea is much appreciated!!!!...See More- 11 years ago
