Need understair shelving ideas please
Comments (20)It seems that 2 story houses are becoming much more the norm here. At least in the metro areas. People are wanting bigger houses and builders can get more house on less land. Mattresses, box springs and dressers have to be the WORST things to get up stairs ;-) I love the look of staircases and love the view a 2nd story provides. I'll tell ya though - we're not elderly (YET!) but I love not carrying laundry and other items up and down stairs ;-)...See MoreNeed help for my kitchen
Comments (38)A soft mossy or grey green would be my first impulse but Sarah's dark blue looks good. It depends on your kitchen ware. White porcelains will pop with the blue and earthy stoneware will go more with the soft greens. I'd add a shelf to extend from the cabinet across the tile and a pot rack or hooks over the stove....See MoreBedroom Storage
Comments (16)sorry haven't been on here much and havent had time or money to much about my room but should be getting to work in the next few weeks/month. I've added some more photos to give a better idea of the layout of the room and the dimensions. the first one is a view from the bed or the foot of the bed, so you can see the wall space isn't massive. The horrible curtains are waiting to be changed when I get all the work done! The second photo is the other wall to show where the door to the room is. Carolyn the wardrobe in the photo there is the one I'm going to put in the nook and then I was thinking of getting a carpenter to build shelving on the wall where the wardrobe currently is. Around the bed then would be more storage and shelves either side to act as bedside tables. As anyone any ideas for the type of shelving I should be looking to get built? I would be looking to hold - clothes that wouldn't be hanging like jumpers, t-shirts etc. I would definitely need an area for books/magazines, an area for toiletries and maybe then storage for items such as bed linen, blankets and random items like chargers for phones, laptops etc....See MoreNeed help with my living room please.
Comments (25)Wow, I didn't expect so many responses, thank you so much for your time and ideas. I do know that the art is wrong but had to put something up from our last house while we settle in. I do find the fireplace a bit un-friendly and so I would consider changing the colour of it even just the border of it like one of the photos shows. I'm not keen on the small computer cabinet or the ladder shelving I have to admit. I was thinking more of putting 3 full width cherry wood shelves, bottom one being wider and desk height, changing the light fittings to down lights and maybe having a wallpaper or painted backdrop behind the shelves?? I realise I would have to get rid of or change the wallpaper on the other wall and change the curtains too. I take your point, many of you said it, about the curtains needing to fall straight, but I will need a wider pole to do that. Again many thanks, AnnaMarie ps we are in Ireland now but lived in australia for many years and that picture over the mantle is of an old aussie shed with moon light on it....See MoreGeorge Trevis
