Some of the photos aren't great but hopefully it gives an idea of the room size and layout. What I am in the process of doing is getting rid of the wardrobe in the photos and a new one is arriving. This will go into the nook where the chest of drawers are and I will get rid of it because I don't think it really works great with the room and I think I could utilise storage better.
So that will mean I will have the far wall completely free to create storage. I was thinking vertical storage would probably be my best bet but I'm open to ideas.
I need space to store the clothes that were in the chest of drawers and I would like a small book shelf possibly for books/magazines. Apart from that other storage would just be random items.
Any help greatly appreciated!

Comments (16)i agree with most suggestions above. but dont remove your current rug because u can actually layer a faux fur rug over it. plus your rug has amazing rustic colours and u can use them as accents. maybe over time you may invest in new pillowcases/quilt covers complementing the colours of the rug..peach/mint/cream/ to name a few. may also add some mettalic cushions combo. you can always take them off if you want that summery feel in which switch to sweet pastels. a lot of pillows are important! lol! i'd get rid of the plant. the dressing table n side tables could be black (lacquer may be interesting)with gold knobs (think art deco). dressing table should be move to the side so you get more light and space near the window. maybe mirror can be placed against the window so ull also get natural light when you're admiring your reflection. ur room has an eclectic feel to it.. its great just needs some rearrangments thats all....See MoreNeed help with bedroom storage ideas

9 years agook so never tried to draw one of these before so hopefully everything makes sense to you!
The wardrobe I have I think is best in the nook it fits nicely and leaves a good part of the wall beside it to build storage on.
I tried to give as many measurements as I could and the room is 90inches wide x 157 inches long.
For around the bed i was thinking of possibly getting something built like having shelves either side which connect over the head board and have a nice canvas print on the wall just above the headboard

9 years agoI would put the built-ins at the other end of the room so that the room becomes a simple rectangle without the nook in the corner. I'm hoping there enough space between the window and the nook to build a wall across the foot of the room 2' out from the present wall.
At both sides of the bed, I would install two items:
1. Swing arm wall mounted lamps.
2. A small shelf, approx. 12 x 6"

9 years agosorry haven't been on here much and havent had time or money to much about my room but should be getting to work in the next few weeks/month.
I've added some more photos to give a better idea of the layout of the room and the dimensions. the first one is a view from the bed or the foot of the bed, so you can see the wall space isn't massive. The horrible curtains are waiting to be changed when I get all the work done!
The second photo is the other wall to show where the door to the room is.
Carolyn the wardrobe in the photo there is the one I'm going to put in the nook and then I was thinking of getting a carpenter to build shelving on the wall where the wardrobe currently is.
Around the bed then would be more storage and shelves either side to act as bedside tables.
As anyone any ideas for the type of shelving I should be looking to get built? I would be looking to hold - clothes that wouldn't be hanging like jumpers, t-shirts etc. I would definitely need an area for books/magazines, an area for toiletries and maybe then storage for items such as bed linen, blankets and random items like chargers for phones, laptops etc.
