“So, about a year and a half ago I bought a small house built in 1939. Lots of charm, but the backyard, not so much. Small, nothing but a lawn, tiny little patio cover off the garage, and a big redwood at the corner. Oh, and my neighbors looked right over it from their second floor. I and my house guests would hide under the patio cover to get shade and privacy. It didn't seem like there was a way to fix all this, but Gary surveyed the yard, its problems and my neighborhood's style. He then listened closely to my concerns and was diligent in understanding my particular likes and dislikes. He came back with three different plans and I liked all of them. “Sophie has an excellent eye and knows how to make a yard look not only beautiful but pulled together. When I came to her for a design for our backyard to go with our new pool, I had a lot of ideas. Probably too many. In fact, I'm sure it was too many. Hey, I know what I want. Sophie listened to me and incorporated my ideas into the final design so that it feels like it was my idea--only better. I don't know anything about plants or what will grow where, but that didn't matter because I had Sophie right there. Every plant type, ground cover and even placement of future hardscape features was well thought out. The yard is now inviting and the whole family enjoys spending time there. It's also a really nice backdrop out our kitchen window for days when we only get to look at it instead of hanging out there!
