“Jay was great to work with and created a beautiful backsplash for my kitchen. He was friendly and communicative throughout the process and welcomed ideas and feedback from start to finish. His handmade tiles are stunning- their texture and nuance in color are difficult to capture in photos. He paid great attention to detail during installation and I couldn't ask for a better finished product.”

“I have had the pleasure of working with Markus and his guys on three separate projects at my house thus far. The first job they performed was a custom kitchen countertop and fireplace mantle both made from reclaimed heart pine wood which turned out great. A few weeks later I had them come out and replace the old flooring in the kitchen and hallway. This was quite the job, they had to work all the way down to the sub floor and then install a new layer of ply before installing the new life-proof vinyl plank flooring which looks awesome and totally transformed the kitchen. Lastly I had them to install a custom backsplash. Working with Custom Old Wood Designs was great! These guys where always on time and met all deadlines and never exceeded the budget/estimate for each job. I will be working with these again for future projects.”

CLEASTER COTTON Art

Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars16 May 2014
“Having known this dedicated artist and designer for more than 40 years and her work for the past 35 years, Cleaster's artistry is a direct reflection of the artist herself: thoughtful, edgy, innervating and quite remarkable. A painter, photographer, sculptor and designer. While one of those trades would be quite enough for some, Cleaster is a natural at all of them. I am proud and pleased to recommend her.”

“Lyna transformed my entire bland space into something special, all with paint. But what paint! With her artist’s eye, she contributed a vision that any non-artist homeowner will truly appreciate (and artistic ones will embrace as well!). I had all off-white walls and really didn’t know what I wanted (except not all white). Lyna really looked at the space and the world-class mountain view from my windows and worked from there. From her wealth of knowledge of faux painting and finishing, and the experience from many successful projects, she made suggestions for each room that ended up being just perfect for me. We decided on a textured finish for the living area (brown glaze over gray walls), which provides an interesting, but not intrusive, backdrop to showcase the beautiful views and future art. In the same room, she created a Venetian plaster surround for the fireplace that perfectly complements the walls and floor-to-ceiling blinds. When I expressed amazement that it all came together so beautifully, she gave me that wry “look.” She was never in doubt! For the master bedroom, which is absolutely flooded with light, she helped me (patiently) with the trial and error to find the perfect blue-green that wouldn’t look too gray or too greenish, then made suggestions for darker shades of the same color to accent the alcove behind the bed and for the master bath. For a bedroom with no windows (this is a condo building), she came up with a gold-yellow Shimmerstone burnished finish complimented by a copper accent wall section that all worked together to make the dark room, well, shimmer, without being over the top. For the media room, also with no windows, she gave me the courage to try a beautiful leaf green that I truly love to see every day. Throughout it all, Lyna was a great pleasure to work with. She is very friendly and open, and quite passionate about her work. As for budget, I didn’t have one, but she helped me make decisions that keep it all reasonable. She also seems to be very organized in terms of scheduling toward a prompt completion, which meant a lot to me given that every room in my home was a work in progress at the same time. Lyna has my whole-hearted endorsement for anyone who wants more than the ordinary! NB”

“I met Bill through his wife at a local trade show a couple of years ago, and was immediately impressed by his knowledge of, and enthusiasm for any and all kinds of stone work. Sit down for just a few minutes with him and there is nothing to do with stone that he is not an expert with. Stop into his shop and you'll be blown away by works that he has created, that unless he told you, you'd have no idea were not real stone. To be sure, he does work with real stone - all the time, but if you were looking for a period piece, or say you were looking to replicate a piece that you saw on a trip to Italy, Bill would be your guy. HIs first project for my firm was that of a faux stone hood. The thing looks beautiful, and while it is massive (looking like it weighs hundreds of pounds) it was formed over styrofoam making it very light. If you need any kind of stone work make sure to contact Bill Gautch at Croixstone.”
