Simply Home DecoratingThis active couple with three adult boys loves to travel and visit family throughout Western Canada. They hired us for a main floor renovation that would transform their home, making it more functional, conducive to entertaining, and reflective of their interests.
In the kitchen, we chose to keep the layout and update the cabinetry and surface finishes to revive the look. To accommodate large gatherings, we created an in-kitchen dining area, updated the living and dining room, and expanded the family room, as well.
In each of these spaces, we incorporated durable custom furnishings, architectural details, and unique accessories that reflect this well-traveled couple’s inspiring story.
Katie Rainey DesignPatterned cement tile from the entry was brought into the fireplace surround to make the spaces cohesive. A framed picture of a surfer combined with coastal paintings grouped together on the mantel help accentuate the colors of the ocean.
Masterpiece Design GroupThe open great room, which includes the oversize kitchen and dedicated dining area, is a cozy blend of ocean blues, sandy beiges and oyster whites.
deSigneR - Architects and Interior DesignersIn the living room, a blue Chesterfield leather sofa commands attention, bringing a vibrant touch to the space. The neutral hues of mushroom on the walls create a serene backdrop, allowing the sofa to stand out even more. A large brown coffee table with gold legs adds charm and boldness, becoming a focal point of the room. Vintage decor elements uplift the mood, infusing the living room with a timeless appeal. Adorning the back wall of the sofa, a large painting depicting an old town landscape adds character and serves as a captivating focal point. The overall design exudes a true classic aesthetic, combining comfort, elegance, and a touch of nostalgia.

Catherine Wilman InteriorsThe flat was stripped back to the bare bones; we removed the old flooring and installed full soundproofing throughout the apartment. I then laid a dark Wenge parquet flooring and kept the walls in a light off-white paint to keep the apartment light and airy.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I decided to retain the original mouldings on the walls and paint the areas (walls, moulding and covings) in the same off-white colour.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This apartment has a timeless elegance and remains one of my favourite projects to date.
