Simply Home Decorating is a boutique Interior Design studio specializing in mid to high end residential decorating projects. Principal Interior Decorator Lori Steeves provides clients with an effortless Home Decorating Experience.
For years nearly 20 years Lori has successfully transformed her clients houses into the homes of their dreams. Having completed 9 personal home renovation projects in as many years Lori has a heightened appreciation of the clients’ perspective. Her passion for Home Decor combined with her personal and professional experience is the foundation of her design practice.
Originally from Moncton, New Brunswick, Lori moved to Montreal to pursue her Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Art History at McGill University. While studying, she worked in customer service, visual merchandising and management for a number of retailers. After graduation Lori completed a college diploma in Interior Decorating and moved to Ottawa where she founded Simply Home Decorating. After seven successful years of transforming her clients’ homes in Ottawa, Lori relocated her business to North Vancouver where she currently resides with her husband Jonathan, daughter Findlay and a menagerie of pets.

Lori and the Simply Home team were a pleasure to work with. They were professional and organized and had great insight to bring our visions to reality! Lori really got to know our taste and what it was we wanted to achieve with our home. Our project involved the main floor consisting of an open concept including living room dining room kitchen and family room as well as an office/dressing room. Assistance was also provided for a powder room and master bedroom. She was able to interpret and incorporate our suggestions with her own ideas to bring us amazing pieces for our home. As well we had a number of custom pieces created to meet our needs and she brought our ideas to life with the furniture maker. She is an excellent listener and we are thrilled with our newly renovated home! Thank you Simply Home!

From beginning to end, my whole experience with Lori and her assistant Taryn was very professional. Our initial telephone meeting covered some of the issues for which I was seeking solutions so Lori came to our Design Discovery session well prepared. She and Taryn arrived promptly on time and spent the whole of the 2-hour session with me providing solutions, answers and suggestions.
I was very impressed with the amount of information Lori shared with me during our 2-hour Design Discovery session. I have been living in a brand-new condo for 5 months now and had some issues for which I was needing solutions and some design ideas that I wanted to share. I appreciated how Lori validated some of my design ideas and diplomatically steered me in another direction when she thought it would make my space more livable. She suggested various online sources that I hadn't thought about considering until she mentioned them; and, I have been having a field day since researching and dreaming up ways to incorporate her suggestions.
As promised, a written report/summary arrived in my inbox within 2 days. In it Lori also provided me with numerous problem-solving ideas; I can't wait to begin!
I am sure I will want to call on her again once I really get going (after the new furniture arrives!!!)

Lori was such a delight. She is singularly brilliant. We hired Lori to figure out a way to give us a nursery space in our small condo - and she ended up working magic. The more we stay in our place…the more we love it!! ... I found myself just sitting in the nursery forgetting why I came in, taking it all in. It feels like a little cloud of a getaway. Perfect.

I hired Lori for a Design Discovery Session on my bathroom and kitchen. Value for money was amazing - we talked through my ideas and Lori added her design comments/ suggestions. By the end of the session I ended up with a clear picture of all finishes and some great tips on sourcing. The bathroom is now finished and I love it, its definitely my happy place in the house. Having Lori's input with the project meant ordering fixtures and fittings was so much more efficient and everything went to plan, saving me a lot of money and time. Sometimes home renovations feel daunting, using this service with Lori made the whole process so much easier. With Lori's help the kitchen is now on order!

We hired Lori at Simply home to do the interior finishing on our home. It had recently been totally renovated . She started from scratch and furnished every room in the house. In addition, she did the finishing which included built ins, wall paper and other design features. We were very impressed with her talent, efficiency, and integrity. Trades who were hired to do installations were of equally high quality. They were very attuned to our need to update the look of the house yet still maintain what suited our taste. The result was wonderful and exceeded our expectations. As we spend time in our new surroundings we are even more appreciative of how cozy yet elegant the house is. We couldn't be happier with her work!

My partner and I hired Lori for a 2 hour consultation through this site. I tried booking with a few other people and they were all terribly disorganized. Lori was the exception! I saw all the great reviews and she replied to my messages and phone call. Very organized and communicative.
I really appreciate and love the pictures and recommendations Lori made. I feel that I will be able to reach my goals of creating a better and prettier space. I am confident that I will be asking for her services in the future especially when it comes down to reno time! I can already see the improvement and won't be seeing too many mistakes down along the line.
Research and stress is cut down instantly and now I can focus on my life and work.

My husband and I only have the highest praise for Lori. We hired her for two hours for Discovery Design Sessions and she went above and beyond to make us happy. We live in a very small space and she gave us the knowledge and tools we needed to take a lot of the headache out of furniture shopping. No more costly mistakes choosing the wrong piece of furniture, so hiring Lori saves money in the long my run. She also was very patient and professional answering all of our questions and she doesn’t waste time, ensuring we maximized each of our on-site sessions. She even went out of her way to go to two furniture stores to pick out fabrics and pillows when we were having particular difficulty with so many choices. I would recommend Lori to anyone.

5 stars is not enough!!!! Let's add an other 2 stars!
I hired Lori to help me redesign my Hotel room that I rent short term. I wanted to make the space looks luxurious and elegant by changing the carpet, wallpaper, lighting, bathroom tiles and shower, furnitures, beddings... with a tiny budget (of course!)
Lori recommended me to do a Design Discovery Session ($750) and for 2h, we both walk around the unit, she gave me so many amazing feedback and ideas that I was so glad she came with her assistant (who took all the notes and sent them over to me the day after in a PDF document).
I will recommend Lori to anyone who is stuck with design ideas, she is truly a pro and extremely creative. I just want to buy more places so I can work with her :-)

Lori took our vague wish list and translated it into reality. She transformed our living/dining room into a beautiful space beyond what we imagined. Everything looks fantastic and yet the room is very comfortable too, and feels like "us". Lori and her team made the process seem simple, and their attention to detail and quality really shows.
