Kitchen Design ConceptsThis 1950's kitchen hindered our client's cooking and bi-weekly entertaining and was inconsistent with the home's mid-century architecture. Additional key goals were to improve function for cooking and entertaining 6 to 12 people on a regular basis. Originally with only two entry points to the kitchen (from the entry/foyer and from the dining room) the kitchen wasn’t very open to the remainder of the home, or the living room at all. The door to the carport was never used and created a conflict with seating in the breakfast area. The new plans created larger openings to both rooms, and a third entry point directly into the living room. The “peninsula” manages the sight line between the kitchen and a large, brick fireplace while still creating an “island” effect in the kitchen and allowing seating on both sides. The television was also a “must have” utilizing it to watch cooking shows while prepping food, for news while getting ready for the day, and for background when entertaining.
Meticulously designed cabinets provide ample storage and ergonomically friendly appliance placement. Cabinets were previously laid out into two L-shaped spaces. On the “top” was the cooking area with a narrow pantry (read: scarce storage) and a water heater in the corner. On the “bottom” was a single 36” refrigerator/freezer, and sink. A peninsula separated the kitchen and breakfast room, truncating the entire space. We have now a clearly defined cool storage space spanning 60” width (over 150% more storage) and have separated the ovens and cooking surface to spread out prep/clean zones. True pantry storage was added, and a massive “peninsula” keeps seating for up to 6 comfortably, while still expanding the kitchen and gaining storage. The newly designed, oversized peninsula provides plentiful space for prepping and entertaining. Walnut paneling wraps the room making the kitchen a stunning showpiece.
La Costa Cabinets & DesignBeautiful striated granite countertops play off the warm tones of the maple clad kitchen. Slab door and drawer front paired with sleek glass subway tiles nod towards mid century modern influences. Glass light fixtures and gold finishes contrast the cool grey tones of the countertop. Desk space is crafted out of the end of the cabinet run for quick mail sorting.
Andra Martens Design StudioThis kitchen, in a 1920's Craftsman-style home, was given a fresh new look with a gut renovation that removed the wall between the kitchen and dining room allowing the light to spread through the main level. The homeowner is a fabulous home chef and he can now cook, teach and entertain at the same time.
Coastal Peach InteriorsA 2005 built Cape Canaveral condo updated to 2021 Coastal Chic with a new Tarra Bianca granite countertop. Accented with blue beveled glass backsplash, fresh white cabinets and new stainless steel appliances. Freshly painted Agreeable Gray walls, new Dorchester laminate plank flooring and blue rolling island further compliment the beautiful new countertop and gorgeous backsplash.
309designSalvaged chestnut creates a dramatic organic backsplash in this family, friendly euro-country kitchen. Seude finish soapstone quartz countertops add refinement and the warm shaker cabinets add a touch of classic country design. Glass front cabinets and a beverage center at the 'butler's pantry' create visual interest and functionality for a busy family. The horizontal picket tile backsplash is an effective counterpoint to the chestnut and its gloss finish is the perfect accent to the dark matte countertops. A large peninsula adds functional seating and serving space for entertaining. It's a light, bright and modern kitchen for a family living in their forever home.
G.B. Construction and Development, Inc.Completely remodeled beach house with an open floor plan, beautiful light wood floors and an amazing view of the water. After walking through the entry with the open living room on the right you enter the expanse with the sitting room at the left and the family room to the right. The original double sided fireplace is updated by removing the interior walls and adding a white on white shiplap and brick combination separated by a custom wood mantle the wraps completely around. Continue through the family room to the kitchen with a large island and an amazing dining area. The blue island and the wood ceiling beam add warmth to this white on white coastal design. The shiplap hood with the custom wood band tie the shiplap ceiling and the wood ceiling beam together to complete the design.
piquA quietly elegant and ultimately fashionable colour scheme with fresh aqua accents for this lovely modern kitchen extension in Lee. German kitchen furniture from Ballerina-Küchen coupled with Compac Moon Quartz worksurfaces and a backpainted glass splashback work well with the warm wooden floor. The addition of a peninsular kitchen island creates a sociable seating area in the space.

A mid-century inspired kitchen, designed for a mid-century house.
We love mid-century style, and so when we were approached to design this kitchen for a beautifully revived mid-century villa in Warwickshire, it was a dream commission. Simple, clean cabinetry was brought to life with the gorgeous iroko timber, and the cabinetry sat on a matt black plinth – a classic mid-century detail.
A walk-in pantry, lined in single-depth shelving, was framed behind sliding doors glazed with traditional reeded glass. Refrigeration and storage was contained in a long run of tall cabinets, that finished in a mirror-backed bar with integral ice bucket
But the show-stealer was a set of bespoke, handmade shelves that screened the kitchen from the hallway in this open plan home. Subtly detailed, like only real furniture-makers can, with traditional jointing and mid-century radiused edges.
