We call these gardens "living landscapes" because the native plants they contain seed off and change locations from year to year in a dynamic, dramatic show. The gardener becomes audience, director, and dramaturge--all in one--rather than one who tightly controls the results. (What is a dramaturge, one might ask if their friends are not in the theater?) Oxford languages explains: "1. a dramatist. 2. a literary editor on the staff of a theater who consults with authors and edits texts." In living landscapes, the native plants become a sort of text which the gardener edits in order to shape the unfolding drama for the current and next season. The gardener chooses where to pull back overly assertive plants, when to nudge forward the under-confident actor waiting to shine, when to let the mystery unfold and surprise. It is not laissez-faire or "what will be will be"--rather, it is an ongoing movement rooted in observation and reflection. This is the living landscape we strive to design and build at The Natural Garden.

Jen Migonis and her family installed a Swenson Granite Works Woodbury Gray granite fire pit. The installation only took about 15-20 minutes to set up and then Jen says it took about three times as long to make the rest of the area look fabulous with a zillion pumpkins, pillows and blankets. The kids were so excited to roast marshmallows. There are 16 blocks per tier, and each block weighs roughly 50 lbs. The fire pit is available as 1-tier, 2-tier or 3-tier. お庭の1/3が法面で高低差が60㎝あったので小さい子供には危ないお庭でした。今回境界にCP型枠ブロックで擁壁をつくり、盛土してお庭をフラットにして広く使えるようになりました。ブロック上にウッドフェンスを建てて目隠しもしっかり！道路からのアプローチはロックガーデンにして、グランドカバーを植えました。

In this image you can see the effects of two Clarolux FL36 'Lawndale' lighting fixtures with 12 watt Brilliance LED Lighting bulbs proudly illuminating this beautiful work of art. This is a three story treehouse hand-crafted by Carolina Timberworks using the old fashioned and well-respected woodworkers technique known as mortise and tenon joints. The natural stone pond has an underwater Clarolux lighting fixture with a 4 watt Brilliance LED Lighting bulb which gives the beautiful effect of illuminated water falling. There is also one Clarolux tree-mounted directional lighting fixture with a 7 watt Brilliance LED Lighting bulb to give a moonlight effect.
