A custom-cut piece of glass tops a Saarinen tulip table base framed by a curvaceous silk-velvet settee and a wood bench stands in place of a conventional dining set in the dining area. “I didn’t want the clutter of a lot of chairs” Jane says. “It would have interfered with the calm of the room.” Timber bamboo, lustrous overscale Vietnamese pottery, a trio of sparkling Thai mirrors, and nearly a dozen candles interspersed with smooth dark stones enhance the dining area’s grown-up appeal.

Our Long Island studio designed this stunning home with bright neutrals and classic pops to create a warm, welcoming home with modern amenities. In the kitchen, we chose a blue and white theme and added leather high chairs to give it a classy appeal. Sleek pendants add a hint of elegance. In the dining room, comfortable chairs with chequered upholstery create a statement. We added a touch of drama by painting the ceiling a deep aubergine. AJI also added a sitting space with a comfortable couch and chairs to bridge the kitchen and the main living space. The family room was designed to create maximum space for get-togethers with a comfy sectional and stylish swivel chairs. The unique wall decor creates interesting pops of color. In the master suite upstairs, we added walk-in closets and a twelve-foot-long window seat. New beige and teal tones encompass this living and dining space of this family’s home. A metallic ceiling paint was used with the new different lighting fixtures to accent the areas in need. Phillips Hue LED lighting bulbs were used throughout the space including in the ceiling fixtures so that the intensity and mood of the room can simply be controlled by an app on the clients phone. Accent tables were added to the space for guests and residents to place cocktails during a conversation. Mahogany wood tones make the room more transitional. The dining chairs are upholstered with a custom patterned front to add the needed texture to the space. Accent tables were added to the foyer space for use as a temporary placeholder for keys and other pocket items as guests and residents place their shoes on or off.
