This Asian-inspired design really pops in this kitchen. Between colorful pops, unique granite patterns, and tiled backsplash, the whole kitchen feels impressive!

Kitchen after - The original corner sink at the window was a perfect spot to incorporate a second prep sink using the existing plumbing. A beautiful and practical cork floor warms up the space both aesthetically and literally!

The design contrasts a beautiful, heavy timber frame and tongue-and-groove wood ceilings with modern details. While managing a smart budget, the design team was able to incorporate custom-built quarter-sawn oak cabinets in the kitchen and cork flooring. Photo by Kim Lathe Photography

The sink is in front of the windows opposite the island in the kitchen area from the great room in a beautiful Lenox, Ma cottage renovation. The clear glass tile is "smoke" by AKDO. I always purchase locally when possible - in this case from Lee Tile & Stone.

It's hard to believe this was once a small, drab, 50's-era tract home. Our client, an artist, loved the location but wanted a modern, unique look with more space for her to work. We added over 2,000 square feet of living space including a studio with its own bathroom and a laundry/potting room. The cramped old-fashioned kitchen was opened up to the living area to create a high-ceiling great room. Outside, a new driveway, patio and walkway incorporate brightly colored surfaces as a contrast to the abundant greenery of the garden.

Photos with the LED under bar lighting installed. The flexible led tape is a great product and energy efficient.

This wall, previously a living room wall (backing the long garage wall) was perfect to repurpose for a functional kitchen wall. The simple painted cabinets act as a canvas for the custom copper composition of pulls. The backsplash of copper sheets (continuing in back of the open shelves) were acid treated to create a diffused pattern. The client, a metal sculptor, enjoys the ever-changing patina of the copper with time and cooping heat. Soft copper, his favorite medium, is contrasted with one of the hardest of metals, steel. Steel strapping with copper rivets conceals the copper sheet seams. Simple painted traditional cabinets, arranged in a nontraditional way, create the open/negative spaces. A 3' diameter bamboo butcher block remnant rests (unattached) at this end of the island creating a slightly raised height for the tall cook.

This family wanted a house that functioned better for them. Prior to the renovation, the living room was sunken, and there was a pony wall between the kitchen and living room. Standing in the living room wasn't conducive to talking to anyone working in the kitchen. And the only stools were at the end. Raising the living room floor and adding sky lights made the space much more useable. The mix of contemporary styling with mid-century furniture plays to the couple's design sense.
