This home originally had a Mediterranean inspired interior...wrought iron, heavy wood and Travertine everywhere. The office not only wasn't the homeowners taste but wasn't functional. While brainstorming ideas I mentioned cedar and he immediately said "Yes" as it reminded him of his childhood home. Additionally a request for a stand-up desk with storage for his bad back and a navy paint finished off this space.

We created a platform at the entry of the bedroom so you could walk into the room at the same level as the rest of the house. Creating this platform allowed easy access to the new home office location and master bathroom. Prior to the remodel you had to walk down the stairs into the bedroom and up more stairs to get into the bathroom. This area is accented by a gorgeous floating pecan desk, open shelving that acts as a decorative railing, and an original brick wall that we discovered during construction. Having a country home office can seem like the best of both worlds, but it’s important to keep in mind that this should be a productive space that keeps out the many distractions of home. You may not have the luxury of a dedicated room to turn into your country office room or home library, so choose your space wisely to ensure privacy and adequate storage. A carefully designed corner in your living room or an alcove can be made into a productive and stylish study space.
