Builder Bob Kiefer combined ipe decking with PVC rails and recessed panel posts to give this Staten Island home its beach-house look.
The ipe decking is installed in a herringbone pattern on both the main deck and the small balcony off the master bedroom to create the feeling of being down on the boardwalk.

Decks & Patio Covers
To secure this deck to the bulked we poured the concrete curb you see in the photo as a "U" shape and drove a number of steel pin piles into the earth. All this is tied together with steel re-bar to securely anchor this deck and provide the lateral loads necessary for a safe deck. TimberTech Evolutions Terrain is the decking and all fasteners and metals used are stainless steel or aluminum.
