The Bazeley PartnershipSeahorses is a stunning new home near Falmouth enjoying magnificent panoramic views of the south coast seascape.
Sitting on the clifftops within an AONB, the house and gardens occupy a gently sloping site that connects with the adjacent South West Coastal Path.
The context and terrain of the surrounding landscape informed the design and an imaginative and ambitious solution to site levels was crucial to the success of the scheme. As a result, the completed house is lower than the original, thus creating privacy for the occupants whilst still respecting neighbouring homes.
The split-level, linear design is carefully organised around a spine wall of local granite that runs from the exterior of the building through the interior. This arrangement allows the living areas and bedrooms to connect with the landscape and integrate seamlessly with outdoor spaces.
A mix of grasses, sedum and indigenous coastal plants on the green roof help to embed the building into its surroundings. The palette of natural materials creates a layered, permeable effect on the exterior, which will season with time and weather, thereby allowing it to assimilate into its coastal setting.
Of equal importance was landscaping, which was integral to the design intent. With thoughtful positioning of the new dwelling, significant areas of mature and established planting were protected and retained.

Urban SkiesThe beautiful and modern holiday home near Dorchester features our pergola to the rooftop terrace that provides stunning views. The bespoke pergola was designed and engineered to span to the full width over the outdoor kitchen and provide shelter from rain, wind and the sun. It features rotating louvres along with perimeter LED lighting, vertical tension blinds and external heaters, all of which are manually operated via remote.
Dion Seminara ArchitectureThe proposal included an extension to the rear of the home and a period renovation of the classic heritage architecture of the existing home. The features of Glentworth were retained, it being a heritage home being a wonderful representation of a classic early 1880s Queensland timber colonial residence.
The site has a two street frontage which allowed showcasing the period renovation of the outstanding historical architectural character at one street frontage (which accords with the adjacent historic Rosalie townscape) – as well as a stunning contemporary architectural design viewed from the other street frontage.
The majority of changes were made to the rear of the house, which cannot be seen from the Rosalie Central Business Area.
Woodstock FurnitureWe designed this bespoke kitchen be in harmony with the outdoor space with spray-painted Little Greene French Grey Mid and immaculately veneered book-matched American black walnut cabinets.
Canberra DecksThis outdoor space celebrates all of the attributes of our client’s beautiful, landscaped garden. Featuring Millboard decking boards, a product which is hand-moulded from original timber, then hand-coloured to recreate the warm authentic look of timber. The insulated Solarspan pergola compliments the space with its contemporary design embracing a sense of enclosure and keeping the space cool in the warmer months.

HiFi Forum GmbHFür das Dach erhielten die Bauherren von Brett Einrichtung die Genehmigung zur teilweisen Öffnung für eine Dachterrasse. So konnte eine gemütliche Entspannungs-Oase entstehen, die selbstverständlich mit Sound versorgt wird. Die wasserfesten Soundpanels sind überputzt und nicht sichtbar.
