A beautiful in-frame kitchen manufactured by our British supplier Stoneham in there 'Penshurst' range. A solid wood Oak painted door with inner cock beading, really sets this kitchen apart and painted in Farrow & Ball colours. The island is over 4m in length and offers the perfect breakfast bar fro 4 people to enjoy tea and coffee int he mornings. But the real 'wow' factor comes from the tall bank of units, that contain a hidden drink station and bar area behind mirrored pocket doors. With the rich walnut veneer interiors contrasting beautifully with the external door colour. Either side of them are two secret hidden doors, one leading to the utility room and the other leading to the children's playroom. No detail was left un-turned.

This bespoke family kitchen was part of the renovation of a period home in Frome. The ground floor is a half basement and struggled with dark rooms and a layout that did not function well for family life. New windows were added to the adjoining dining room and crisp white finishes and clever lighting have transformed the space. Bespoke cabinets maximised the limited head height and corner space. Designed in a classic shaker style and painted in Hopper by Little Greene with classic burnished brass ironmongery, it is a timeless design.

More than just a kitchen, this beautifully spacious and light room makes this Classic English Kitchen by Hutton England a space for living, lounging, cooking & dining. The large 5 oven Aga nestled beneath the grande faux mantle and the oak accents give this room a warm, homely feel. The classic english styling of the room is further emphasised by the simplicity of the pallette; the softness of the light grey cabinets balances the bold, deep green of the island complementing the natural spledour of the granite which ranges from rich emeralds to dark british racing greens. A suite of larders and integrated fridge freezers at the other side of the island add a bold splash of our customers flair and personality whilst reflecting the lighter greens of the granite opposite. A refreshing change from the more fashionable calm grey's and cool blue's, this dramatic and atmospheric space shows just how diverse our Classic English Kitchens can look and if you want to be a little different, you can be.

This kitchen was for a Victorian cottage undergoing total modernisation and renovation. The wood burner in the snug, new doors and windows had already been installed, our clients were then looking for the perfect kitchen to knit the sitting room and dining area together. They wanted a classic style in a bold colour, that would make a modern statement but feel appropriate to a Victorian cottage. The brief was to make the sitting room and kitchen feel more connected to each other, creating a more open-plan space. We designed a classic lay-on shaker kitchen in Little Greene Paint Company’s ‘Puck’, a wonderfully bold racing green. To keep the kitchen feeling light and bright, we paired the units with the Carrera Venato quartz worktops. In addition to the worktops, we designed floating shelves and opened out the kitchen by removing a unit that had previously sat between the pillar and wall. All of these elements combined to ensure the kitchen feels bright and modern, even in such a deep and bold colour.

Should I include a kitchen island?

Kitchen island ideas are abundant these days; it seems most kitchen designs include a kitchen island, if not multiple islands. However, if the layout doesn’t work, especially if you have a small kitchen, then there’s no necessity to add in a kitchen island. You can add a breakfast bar or counter to your existing kitchen units, or stick with a good old-fashioned dining table if you don’t need the extra work surfaces. That said, if you do have the room, take a look at some kitchen island ideas to see if the designs inspire you for your kitchen. There are a huge variety of island designs to cater to different needs – you can have sinks, ovens, hobs, wine storage and all sorts of drawers and organisers built-in, you can have separate bars and counters that extend from your island, or you could go for a kitchen island on wheels to make your kitchen layout more versatile.

How do I choose my kitchen units and cabinets?

Shaker style cabinets and raised and recessed panel cabinets offer a more traditional kitchen cabinet look, while flat panel cabinet doors tend to lend more to the modern and contemporary style. However, going for raised or recessed panel work in a striking colour such as dark blue, green or black can still work with contemporary kitchen ideas. White kitchens can give a sleek and clean feel, but remember you may have to do a bit more cleaning of those cupboard doors if you want everything to stay shiny and fresh. Of course, grey kitchens are the neutral colour choice du jour and can be paired with pale and rich shades alike if you want your fitted kitchen cupboards to contrast with your worktop, splashback, floor, or all of the above. Exposed shelving and storage is also popular for eclectic, Scandi and industrial-inspired looks, so you could opt for glass-fronted cabinets or no wall-mounted cabinets at all. Whilst a large kitchen pantry is the dream of most homeowners, it can’t always be a reality. However, there are now lots of pull out compartments and drawers with trays and shelving that can act as mini kitchen pantries, and you can install handy cupboard organisers that fit onto the inside of the door to make the most of your cupboard space. You can also look at corner drawers and cupboards that open up to reveal lots of extra storage. Rails or small shelves along your kitchen walls or splashback can help with hanging utensils or pans, or storing small items like herbs and spices in an usually empty space. Are there small kitchen ideas for small spaces?

If you’re working with a galley kitchen, a one-wall kitchen in an open plan space or just a pretty small kitchen, there are some small kitchen ideas that can help you get the most out of your cooking and dining area.
