Overland Remodeling & BuildersA complete kitchen remodeling project in Simi Valley. The project included a complete gut of the old kitchen with a new floorplan. Katie Hutchison StudioWhen the owners of this eat-in kitchen in a c. 1910 Cape contacted me, they were ready to transform it from a tired, cluttered look to a bright and clean aesthetic in keeping with their more modern taste. Plus, they needed more storage; they had been storing pots and pans in the oven. In the reconfigured renovated gray-and-white kitchen, we moved the stove/oven to a new island generous enough to accommodate seating for four, which freed up space for full-height cabinetry storage in the location of a former corner table. A PentalQuartz countertop in Arabescato, white Shaker-style overlay cabinets by Showplace, and a porcelain and glass mosaic backsplash tile from Lauzon help the modest kitchen sparkle and to feel more expansive. Happily, the oven is now available for cooking rather than storage.
Signature Design InteriorsWith a listing price of just under $4 million, this gorgeous row home located near the Convention Center in Washington DC required a very specific look to attract the proper buyer.
The home has been completely remodeled in a modern style with bamboo flooring and bamboo kitchen cabinetry so the furnishings and decor needed to be complimentary. Typically, transitional furnishings are used in staging across the board, however, for this property we wanted an urban loft, industrial look with heavy elements of reclaimed wood to create a city, hotel luxe style. As with all DC properties, this one is long and narrow but is completely open concept on each level, so continuity in color and design selections was critical.
The row home had several open areas that needed a defined purpose such as a reception area, which includes a full bar service area, pub tables, stools and several comfortable seating areas for additional entertaining. It also boasts an in law suite with kitchen and living quarters as well as 3 outdoor spaces, which are highly sought after in the District.
CO InteriorsThis kitchen has four different cabinetry colour finishes and we've made it work by carrying the same hardware and counter top throughout the space. The design was initialized when our client informed us that they were going to keep their white appliances. In order to visually make the appliances less noticeable, we introduced white cabinetry at the base. Black cabinetry was introduced along the uppers to create interest and draw the eye upward away from the actual counter surface. A unique onyx mosaic backsplash tile with a black and white geometric pattern ties the two surfaces together.

Ellen Weiss DesignThis small townhouse kitchen has no windows (it has a sliding glass door across from the dining nook) and had a limited budget. The owners planned to live in the home for 3-5 more years. The challenge was to update and brighten the space using Ikea cabinets while creating a custom feel with good resale value.
Leanne Michael L U X E lifestyle designAll custom made cabinetry that was color matched to the entire suite of GE Cafe matte white appliances paired with champagne bronze hardware that coordinates beautifully with the Delta faucet and cabinet / drawer hardware. The counter surfaces are Artic White quartz with custom hand painted clay tiles for the entire range wall with custom floating shelves and backsplash. We used my favorite farrow & ball Babouche 223 (yellow) paint for the island and Sherwin Williams 7036 Accessible Beige on the walls. Hanging over the island is a pair of glazed clay pots that I customized into light pendants. We also replaced the builder grade hollow core back door with a custom designed iron and glass security door. The barstools were a fabulous find on Craigslist that we became mixologists with a selection of transparent stains to come up with the perfect shade of teal and we installed brand new bamboo flooring!
This was such a fun project to do, even amidst Covid with all that the pandemic delayed, and a much needed burst of cheer as a daily result.

The English Contractor & Remodeling ServicesThe 48" dual range from Wolf Subzero is a focal point of this kitchen, accentuated by the patterned handmade cement Erizo Tangier Blue tiles from Builder Depot. The backsplash on either side is Equipe Scale Triangle and Magical 3 Triol in white glass from Hamilton Parker. The pot filler is from Signature Hardware's Augusta line in Antique Copper.
LCI DesignThe kitchen was renovated with custom made black walnut veneer cabinets, with back painted upper glass cabinet doors with caesarstone counters in 'Sea Foam'. The backsplash is recycled glass tile from Oceanside. The tap and under mount sink are manufactured by Blanco. It was important to be able to display treasured pottery pieces so I designed open shelves adjacent to window.
Project GuruReclaimed dining room space allows for appliance wall with glass-front cabinets and ample clean-up space with dual sinks, trash/recycling and dishwasher in the same zone. Island elevated bar allows for 2 stools.
