The entry to this kitchen was once a narrow door from the dining room. We removed the wall and the old drop ceiling with an ornate fan. Old oak cabinetry was replaced with custom made cabinets, with lower cabinets in classic blue and upper cabinetry in white. The farmhouse sink from Signature Hardware is in an antique copper finish from their Steyn line. The faucet is also from the Steyn line and coordinate with the antique copper drawer pulls. Tile Backsplash is Equipe Scale Triangolo and Magical 3 Triol in white glass from Hamilton Parker. The dishwasher is from Bosch.

When the owners of this eat-in kitchen in a c. 1910 Cape contacted me, they were ready to transform it from a tired, cluttered look to a bright and clean aesthetic in keeping with their more modern taste. Plus, they needed more storage; they had been storing pots and pans in the oven. In the reconfigured renovated gray-and-white kitchen, we moved the stove/oven to a new island generous enough to accommodate seating for four, which freed up space for full-height cabinetry storage in the location of a former corner table. A PentalQuartz countertop in Arabescato, white Shaker-style overlay cabinets by Showplace, and a porcelain and glass mosaic backsplash tile from Lauzon help the modest kitchen sparkle and to feel more expansive. Happily, the oven is now available for cooking rather than storage.

Complete overhaul of the common area in this wonderful Arcadia home. The living room, dining room and kitchen were redone. The direction was to obtain a contemporary look but to preserve the warmth of a ranch home. The perfect combination of modern colors such as grays and whites blend and work perfectly together with the abundant amount of wood tones in this design. The open kitchen is separated from the dining area with a large 10' peninsula with a waterfall finish detail. Notice the 3 different cabinet colors, the white of the upper cabinets, the Ash gray for the base cabinets and the magnificent olive of the peninsula are proof that you don't have to be afraid of using more than 1 color in your kitchen cabinets. The kitchen layout includes a secondary sink and a secondary dishwasher! For the busy life style of a modern family. The fireplace was completely redone with classic materials but in a contemporary layout. Notice the porcelain slab material on the hearth of the fireplace, the subway tile layout is a modern aligned pattern and the comfortable sitting nook on the side facing the large windows so you can enjoy a good book with a bright view. The bamboo flooring is continues throughout the house for a combining effect, tying together all the different spaces of the house. All the finish details and hardware are honed gold finish, gold tones compliment the wooden materials perfectly.

Our clients wanted to open up the wall between their kitchen and living areas to improve flow and continuity and they wanted to add a large island. They felt that although there were windows in both the kitchen and living area, it was still somewhat dark, so they wanted to brighten it up. There was a built-in wet bar in the corner of the family room that really wasn’t used much and they felt it was just wasted space. Their overall taste was clean, simple lines, white cabinets but still with a touch of style. They definitely wanted to lose all the gray cabinets and busy hardware. We demoed all kitchen cabinets, countertops and light fixtures in the kitchen and wet bar area. All flooring in the kitchen and throughout main common areas was also removed. Waypoint Shaker Door style cabinets were installed with Leyton satin nickel hardware. The cabinets along the wall were painted linen and java on the island for a cool contrast. Beautiful Vicostone Misterio countertops were installed. Shadow glass subway tile was installed as the backsplash with a Susan Joblon Silver White and Grey Metallic Glass accent tile behind the cooktop. A large single basin undermount stainless steel sink was installed in the island with a Genta Spot kitchen faucet. The single light over the kitchen table was Seagull Lighting “Nance” and the two hanging over the island are Kuzco Lighting Vanier LED Pendants. We removed the wet bar in the family room and added two large windows, creating a wall of windows to the backyard. This definitely helped bring more light in and open up the view to the pool. In addition to tearing out the wet bar and removing the wall between the kitchen, the fireplace was upgraded with an asymmetrical mantel finished in a modern Irving Park Gray 12x24” tile. To finish it all off and tie all the common areas together and really make it flow, the clients chose a 5” wide Java bamboo flooring. Our clients love their new spaces and the improved flow, efficiency and functionality of the kitchen and adjacent living spaces.

The cabinets are bamboo with a taupe/gray finish. The backsplash is a frosted glass in smokey blue/green. Counter tops are "Cement" by Caesarstone. The dark hardware brings out the darker planks in the floor and metal in the furniture and lighting. The modern shape of the backsplash tiles allow for pattern while the color stays cohesive with the walls. Warm smokey colors in this modern kitchen make it easy on the eyes while quite stylish and interesting. The kitchen and dining room are part of a larger renovation and extension that saw the rear of this home transformed from a small, dark, many-roomed space into a large, bright, open-plan family haven. With a goal to re-invent the home to better suit the needs of the owners, the designer needed to consider making alterations to many rooms in the home including two bathrooms, a laundry, outdoor pergola and a section of hallway. This was a large job with many facets to oversee and consider but, in Nouvelle’s favour was the fact that the company oversaw all aspects of the project including design, construction and project management. This meant all members of the team were in the communication loop which helped the project run smoothly. To keep the rear of the home light and bright, the designer choose a warm white finish for the cabinets and benchtop which was highlighted by the bright turquoise tiled splashback. The rear wall was moved outwards and given a bay window shape to create a larger space with expanses of glass to the doors and walls which invite the natural light into the home and make indoor/outdoor entertaining so easy. The laundry is a clever conversion of an existing outhouse and has given the structure a new lease on life. Stripped bare and re-fitted, the outhouse has been re-purposed to keep the historical exterior while provide a modern, functional interior. A new pergola adjacent to the laundry makes the perfect outside entertaining area and can be used almost year-round. Inside the house, two bathrooms were renovated utilising the same funky floor tile with its modern, matte finish. Clever design means both bathrooms, although compact, are practical inclusions which help this family during the busy morning rush. In considering the renovation as a whole, it was determined necessary to reconfigure the hallway adjacent to the downstairs bathroom to create a new traffic flow through to the kitchen from the front door and enable a more practical kitchen design to be created.

Breathtaking black featured kitchen with matching black louvers to keep the open space while separating the kitchen from another room. Storage is no problem in this kitchen with the island having storage on both ends !! A Calcutta 40mm benchtop with a double waterfall island could not look any better on a different kitchen. The splash back feature breaks the black and provides a pop of white grey to neutralise the distant feature. We love the window space bringing in plenty of natural light into the space, wrapping a window in stone is always a favourite for us!
