We love the contrast in this bright cheery kitchen! The mix of metals and use of black, and grey all provide pattern and texture to the space. The corner range makes an ideal cooking area flanked by the microwave, open shelving and a pull out for oils and spices.

The homeowners liked the idea of two-toned kitchen cabinets, so we opted for a combination of pure white and charcoal gray for dramatic contrast. Brushed gold fixtures and statement brass pulls add warmth and sophistication. The distinctive quartzite counters are a showstopper, with unique veining and striking color variation, from blue to gray to ochre. The shimmering blue-gray backsplash unites the entire space.
The overall goal was to create an expansive entertaining kitchen that could accommodate our clients’ large gatherings of family and friends, and provide them with several zones for prepping, serving, seating, and socializing.

This inviting 850 sqft ADU in Sacramento checks all the boxes for beauty and function! Warm wood finishes on the flooring, hickory open shelves, and ceiling timbers float on a neutral paint palette of soft whites and tans. Black elements on the cabinetry, interior doors, furniture elements, and decorative lighting act as the “little black dress” of the room. The hand applied plaster-style finish on the fireplace in a charcoal tone provide texture and interest to this focal point of the great room space. With large sliding doors overlooking the backyard and pool this ADU is the perfect oasis with all the conveniences of home!
MGM Builders
This project started as a cramped cape with little character and extreme water damage, but over the course of several months, it was transformed into a striking modern home with all the bells and whistles. Being just a short walk from Mackworth Island, the homeowner wanted to capitalize on the excellent location, so everything on the exterior and interior was replaced and upgraded. Walls were torn down on the first floor to make the kitchen, dining, and living areas more open to one another. A large dormer was added to the entire back of the house to increase the ceiling height in both bedrooms and create a more functional space. The completed home marries great function and design with efficiency and adds a little boldness to the neighborhood. Design by Tyler Karu Design + Interiors. Photography by Erin Little.

Barefoot Dwelling
Phase 2 of our Modern Cottage project was the complete renovation of a small, impractical kitchen and dining nook. The client asked for a fresh, bright kitchen with natural light, a pop of color, and clean modern lines. The resulting kitchen features all of the above and incorporates fun details such as a scallop tile backsplash behind the range and artisan touches such as a custom walnut island and floating shelves; a custom metal range hood and hand-made lighting. This kitchen is all that the client asked for and more!
