The use of texture on walls, furnishings and fabrics, along with unexpected accents of deep orange, add a cozy feel to the open layout. “I used splashes of orange because it’s a favorite color of mine and of my clients’,” she says. “It’s a hue that lends itself to warmth and energy — this house has a lot of warmth and energy, just like the owners.” With a nod to the family’s South American heritage, a large, wood architectural element greets visitors as soon as they step off the elevator. The jigsaw design — pieces of cherry wood that fit together like a puzzle — is a work of art in itself. The star in this space is the view, so a subtle, clean-line approach was the perfect kitchen design for this client. The spacious island invites guests and cooks alike. The inclusion of a handy 'home admin' area is a great addition for clients with busy work/home commitments. The combined laundry and butler's pantry is a much used area by these clients, who like to entertain on a regular basis. Plenty of storage adds to the functionality of the space. The TV Unit was a must have, as it enables perfect use of space, and placement of components, such as the TV and fireplace. The small bathroom was cleverly designed to make it appear as spacious as possible. A subtle colour palette was a clear choice.

You can add a breakfast bar or counter to your existing kitchen units, or stick with a good old-fashioned dining table if you don’t need the extra work surfaces.
