We enjoyed designing this kitchen for our client in Kent. What makes it special is the statement splashback, made from exquisite Arabescato Rosso marble. Its red and earthy hues create a striking contrast against the blue-tone shaker cabinets, infusing the space with a sense of warmth and depth. This harmonious interplay of colors and textures brings together a captivating kitchen design that is both visually appealing and practical, and a true centerpiece of the house.

Looking for a space which was perfect for entertaining and family life, the design incorporates a plentiful larder, huge fridge as well as discrete ovens and hobs. The oak waterfall nestles into the Carrera marble style quartz counter top, providing a casual eating or drinking zone. The fluted bar stools from April and the Bear were similar to those spotted in a local bar, and also nod to the fluted glazing with in the upper units. Two Heracleum endless chandelier from Moooi light the dining and island area. Beautiful by day and by night. The Crofts and Assinder Sterling Brass handles provide the bling, whilst the unsealed engineered oak parquet from the Natural Wood Company gives a timeless grounding to the space.

A stylish and contemporary rear and side return kitchen extension in East Dulwich. Modern monochrome handle less kitchen furniture has been combined with warm slated wood veneer panelling, a blush pink back painted full height splashback and stone work surfaces from Caesarstone (Cloudburst Concrete). This design cleverly conceals the door through to the utility room and downstairs cloakroom and features bespoke larder storage, a breakfast bar unit and alcove seating.

Our MD Michael designed this kitchen for a friend & long term client of Design Interiors who, had bought a large plot of land to build his dream home. A large Island with seating was an essential for him as so family had comfortable social seating & he had plenty of worktop space. With this island being so large, Michael designed a central feature around the hob & incorporated the walnut units to divide the island which completed the design of this feature. The addition of the black glass surrounding the 2 BORA induction hobs sections off the cooking zone & adds a finer design detail. The walnut units & internals combined with Farrow & Ball’s ‘Moles Breath’ & the Statuario Maximus worktops create a contemporary twist on this classic traditional furniture. Michael carefully designed specific storage such as the spice racks, coffee unit & trays as so this design offered every detail whilst remaining minimal & organised. A built in mirror TV was incorporated into the glass splash back as so that this item becomes invisible when not in use. The appliances of this design are MIELE & a Quooker hot tap has been incorporated. The small black Contemporary kitchenette has been designed just off the master bedroom for those morning coffees overlooking the grounds from the bedroom’s balcony.

Having undergone a recent refurbishment at the hands of its former owners, this beautifully proportioned Victorian terrace suffered from a common affliction – too much grey. Not one to settle for convention, our client sought a complete overhaul of the bland aesthetic in favour of boldness & daring. Relying on clever ways to imbue interest and create a narrative (without demolishing for the sake of it), we were given free rein to push the boundaries of colour and pattern, all with a liberal dose of 70’s style panache.

You can add a breakfast bar or counter to your existing kitchen units, or stick with a good old-fashioned dining table if you don’t need the extra work surfaces. That said, if you do have the room, take a look at some kitchen island ideas to see if the designs inspire you for your kitchen. There are a huge variety of island designs to cater to different needs – you can have sinks, ovens, hobs, wine storage and all sorts of drawers and organisers built-in, you can have separate bars and counters that extend from your island, or you could go for a kitchen island on wheels to make your kitchen layout more versatile.

How do I choose my kitchen units and cabinets?

How many cupboards and drawers do you need? Do you need extra kitchen storage built into your units? It’s always best to overestimate how much kitchen storage you’ll need as we all tend to have a habit of filling up whatever current space we have to the maximum. Next you can consider kitchen cabinet style and colour. Shaker style cabinets and raised and recessed panel cabinets offer a more traditional kitchen cabinet look, while flat panel cabinet doors tend to lend more to the modern and contemporary style. However, going for raised or recessed panel work in a striking colour such as dark blue, green or black can still work with contemporary kitchen ideas. White kitchens can give a sleek and clean feel, but remember you may have to do a bit more cleaning of those cupboard doors if you want everything to stay shiny and fresh. Of course, grey kitchens are the neutral colour choice du jour and can be paired with pale and rich shades alike if you want your fitted kitchen cupboards to contrast with your worktop, splashback, floor, or all of the above. Exposed shelving and storage is also popular for eclectic, Scandi and industrial-inspired looks, so you could opt for glass-fronted cabinets or no wall-mounted cabinets at all. Remember that this will require more restraint in what you can store and more effort in keeping it looking presentable compared to what is stored away hastily behind cupboard doors. You can also look at corner drawers and cupboards that open up to reveal lots of extra storage.
