The client wasnt sure what to do with this little nook, the window was so lovely but the space had just an accent chair. The result was this beautiful bespoke little desk area, with storage for her books and a little area to work on. Light and bright to open the space up with a lovely accent colour chair. This was a design and build project.

Interior design of home office for clients in Walthamstow village. The interior scheme re-uses left over building materials where possible. The old floor boards were repurposed to create wall cladding and a system to hang the shelving and desk from. Sustainability where possible is key to the design. We chose to use cork flooring for it environmental and acoustic properties and kept the existing window to minimise unnecessary waste.

Home office with hidden craft table. The craft table doors open and close to fully conceal the area via sliding pocket doors. The desk is built-in with tons of functionality. Hidden printer with locking file cabinets, pull-out printer drawer, hidden paper and printer ink storage, desk top power unit for easy gadget plug-in, all wires are concealed inside the desk. If you look behind the desk no wires are visible. The top is walnut wood veneer. The desk had to be designed so the operable windows could open and close.

A home office off the kitchen can be concealed with a pocket door. Gray-painted maple Wood-Mode cabinetry complements the kitchen finishes but makes the space unique. **Project Overview** A small, quiet, efficient office space for one that is perfect for sorting mail and paying bills. Though small it has a great deal of natural light and views out the front of the house of the lush landscaping and wildlife. A pocket door makes the office disappear when it's time to entertain. **What Makes This Project Unique?** Small yet incredibly functional, this desk space is a comfortable, quiet place to catch up on home management tasks. Filled with natural light and offering a view of lush landscaping, the compact space is light and airy. To keep it from feeling cramped or crowded, we complemented warm gray-painted maple cabinetry with light countertops and tile. Taller ceilings allow ample storage, including full-height open storage, to manage all of the papers, files and extras that find their way into the home. **Design Challenges** While the office was intentionally designed into a tiny nook off the kitchen and pantry, we didn't want it to feel small for the people using it. By keeping the color palette light, taking cabinetry to the ceiling, incorporating open storage and maximizing natural light, the space feels cozy, and larger than it actually is. You may not have the luxury of a dedicated room to turn into your office room or home library, so choose your space wisely to ensure privacy and adequate storage. A carefully designed corner in your living room or an alcove can be made into a productive and stylish study space. Your home office furniture with the desk in the centre of your design, needs to include both work surface space and storage ideas – never underestimate how quickly a computer desk can become cluttered with stationery and box files.

Choose a colour scheme that encourages productivity for you – that may be a palette that is calming and restful, or you might feel more inspired by bright invigorating colours and graphic prints. When decorating the walls, look out for items that create the right studious vibe for the room. Wall maps, pinboards that can serve as mood or inspiration boards, and world clocks can all be great options when considering office design ideas. Practical necessities like desk lamps needn’t be unattractive – there a range of stunning designer lamps available. After all your hard work to make this a productive space, clutter can be very distracting so limit the items on your home office desk to a couple of your favourite photographs and perhaps a trinket or two to stimulate the mind. If you don’t want to take up space, shelves hung on the walls will work just as well, and if you really want that authentic library feel then you’ll have to go with built in bookshelves that stretch from floor to ceiling. Next all you need is a comfy chair in amongst the books or a desk if you plan to do work or study from your library. Remember that library areas can be slotted in all around the home – under the stairs, in a corner of your living room or kitchen, as a mezzanine or in a small spare room.
