A rooftop garden designed for the 2012 RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Pleached trees ‘edge’ and frame the view whilst a modern awning covers the main workspace. Contemporary furniture and sculpture are merged with box hedging and living walls to ensure a relaxing environment. A large multi-stem tree in a huge contemporary planter creates a central focus. Outdoor kitchen, vertical living art panels and sunken garden. This small rear garden won a prestigious national award from the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI). We have used sustainable Larch cladding on the retaining walls, a combination of granite plank paving and decking, softened with a mixed palette of shrubs, grasses and perenials to create a multi-purpose family garden used for cooking, entertaining and play.

Behind the rolling hills of Arthurs Seat sits “The Farm”, a coastal getaway and future permanent residence for our clients. The modest three bedroom brick home will be renovated and a substantial extension added. The footprint of the extension re-aligns to face the beautiful landscape of the western valley and dam. The new living and dining rooms open onto an entertaining terrace.
The distinct roof form of valleys and ridges relate in level to the existing roof for continuation of scale. The new roof cantilevers beyond the extension walls creating emphasis and direction towards the natural views.

A grand driveway lined with manicured Linden trees and rows of fragrant lavender lead you to the doorstep of this stunning stone home. Pea-stone aggregates are used as the driveway surface with bordered by natural stone curbing with a strip of natural stone down the middle for drainage. Fun fact: These Linden trees also known as Lyme tree were the types of trees used in the Lord of the Rings film. They were the Hobbits home of choice!
