Landmark Remodeling partnered on us with this basement project in Minnetonka. Long-time, returning clients wanted a family hang out space, equipped with a fireplace, wet bar, bathroom, workout room and guest bedroom. They loved the idea of adding value to their home, but loved the idea of having a place for their boys to go with friends even more. We used the luxury vinyl plank from their main floor for continuity, as well as navy influences that we have incorporated around their home so far, this time in the cabinetry and vanity. Looking across the bay at the Skyway Bridge, this small remodel has big views. The scope includes re-envisioning the ground floor living area into a contemporary, open-concept Great Room, with Kitchen, Dining, and Bar areas encircled. The interior architecture palette combines monochromatic elements with punches of walnut and streaks of gold. New broad sliding doors open out to the rear terrace, seamlessly connecting the indoor and outdoor entertaining areas. With lots of light and an ethereal aesthetic, this neomodern beach house renovation exemplifies the ease and sophisitication originally envisioned by the client.

An unfinished basement was turned into a multi functional room where the entire three generational family can gather to watch sports, play pool or games. A small kitchen allows for drinks and quick snacks. A separate room for the grandchildren allows place space while the parents are nearby. Want to do a puzzle or play a board game, there's a perfect table for that. If you’re lucky enough to have more than one reception room then you have a bit more freedom when deciding what to do with your secondary space. Families with children or just young-at-heart adults could opt for a family room or games room; whether it’s a pool or snooker table room, a comfy relaxation or TV area, a video games haven, a playroom packed with toys or a sports room with accompanying bar. Usually games rooms are naturally fun, recreational spaces so it’s important that the furnishings are functional but enjoyable with an emphasis on comfort, storage, games and entertainment. If you have the scope, family room extensions are a great way of extending from your kitchen or other area of your house to create a whole new, dedicated family space or games room. Basements are also wonderfully suited to house games rooms as they are usually soundproof and secluded so that loud games, films and cheers of success or failure won’t be heard next door or upstairs.
