Durham Designs & Consulting, LLCThe grand entrance is full of details with hand-chiseled newel post combined with stained, wooden treads and risers on the stairs. The iron pickets are heavy and textured. The walls are treated with a slight texture to give the appearance of age and the color is a soft, warm tan that lends itself well with the stronger colors used in the many vintage rugs throughout the home. The wainscoting is customized stained wood with hand-peeled wood repeated the diamond shape from the exterior railings and common with an Adirondack style home.

Lynne Barton Bier - Home on the Range InteriorsThe stunning metal and wood staircase with stone wall makes a statement in the open hall leading from the entrance past dining room on the right and mudroom on the left and down to the two story windows at the end of the hall! The sandstone floors maintain a lightness that contrasts with the stone of the walls, the metal of the railings, the fir beams and the cherry newel posts. The Hammerton pendants lead you down the hall and create an interest that makes it much more than a hall!!!!

Versa HomesThe “Rustic Classic” is a 17,000 square foot custom home built for a special client, a famous musician who wanted a home befitting a rockstar. This Langley, B.C. home has every detail you would want on a custom build.
For this home, every room was completed with the highest level of detail and craftsmanship; even though this residence was a huge undertaking, we didn’t take any shortcuts. From the marble counters to the tasteful use of stone walls, we selected each material carefully to create a luxurious, livable environment. The windows were sized and placed to allow for a bright interior, yet they also cultivate a sense of privacy and intimacy within the residence. Large doors and entryways, combined with high ceilings, create an abundance of space.
A home this size is meant to be shared, and has many features intended for visitors, such as an expansive games room with a full-scale bar, a home theatre, and a kitchen shaped to accommodate entertaining. EdgewoodOver time, a log wall built using mainstream construction methods can settle up to an inch per foot of height, both as it dries out and compresses under roof and snow loads. If not addressed, this settling can lead to cracked windows, doors that don’t close, uneven stairs and damaged cabinetry. It can take two years for nature to complete this process on its own, but using our computer-monitored compression kilns, we can complete the process in two weeks.
